Anyone get dust on their OLEDs?
I’m currently using a cheap microfibre pack of cleaning clothes from Amazon that somewhat help combat dust. I don’t know which ones are the best for TVs. I can’t find ones that have big loops in the material. Alternatives? |

Swiffer duster. I don’t apply any pressure other than to remove dust. I would almost prefer to never touch the screen honestly. But even when I have had to remove anything such as fingerprints the screen is fine. I think it takes more than we realize to do any damage. But still - less touching the better.

Just get a 100% microfiber towel like car fanatics use to wash their super cars. They are probably nothing special, but I bought mine specifically from a car detailing supply site—made in Korea.
Like the other poster said, just use no pressure and let the weight of the cloth pull the dust. |

![]() I ordered that Amazon one. Unfortunately my OLED is in a small bedroom & dust is my enemy. I first bought the those tiny micro fibre clothes, then bought larger micro fibre clothes which have more static but I find them to be too rough even when I’m barely applying any pressure to the Panel. Forgot to mention I don’t like clothes because OLED panels are not flush to the bezel so what happens is dust just gets moved to the corners of the screen with them clothes. I think I’ll keep this duster in a plastic bag when not using it to prevent this dust storm of a room. ![]() |

I received that duster from the link I provided. It seems ok but it’s definitely not a swiffer. It doesn’t have any static like dust attractive elements. It didn’t even come sealed in plastic. ![]() So I threw it in the washer with little laundry soap. Didn’t put it in dryer. It was shockingly dry after the cycle so I threw it in a plastic bag I have to let it “air dry” It’s definitely soft enough though. Softer than my micro fibre towels. So I have 0 worries about scratching the screen now. How effective it is against dust.. don’t know yet. ![]() |

I just use a Swiffer duster or alternatively a soft microfiber cloth. No water, no soap. I clean it about once a week. Last edited by ValTur; 01-24-2022 at 03:13 PM. |

I am, probably unfortunately in the grand scheme of things, very conscientious about cleaning. Now, I don't clean everything everyday, thankfully. But I agree, you can't defeat dust. You think that things are clean, but then the sun/light hits a table/tv from a certain angle, and you realize there is dust galore. So, wiping your tv off on a routine basis is probably the best approach. In general, having a schedule may seem unnecessary, but it keeps things 'in check' and helps gives structure to your routine. But as life has this way of saying "screw you" to our plans, it doesn't always work out.

No, I would not recommend dry cleaning a TV.

So, this thread. It got me to shine an led flashlight directly into my untouched by any duster screen on my 2020 cx (wall hung for 2 years) model oled. It's been beautiful. The screen always looks pristine. Without any dusting at all. I thought they invented a new screen that didn't attract dust. It took a direct beam of max bright flashlight for me to see it. This neglect was beyond my swiffer I use regularly on the backside (you can see that dust easily there). So, I went to Walmart and bought the dangly microfiber brush & roll of several white microfiber towels. The dangly brush wouldn't hardly touch it. It's almost fused. But the white towels did work! Gentle pressure and left no scratches or streaks or anything (using same led flashlight to inspect). Very happy with the new looking screen. And will surely be air massaging that one + my newer c1 model weekly! The oled panel screens are truly deceiving at hiding dust!

My C1 dust accumulation is normal but one thing I don’t find easy is the screen isn’t flush with the bezel. So using anything to wipe the screen gathers the dust & moves it to the bezels. I think a swiffer or cloth that has huge static resistance is necessary to actually get most if not all dust off the screen. Am thinking of trying a swiffer instead of the brush I bought in that link above because the brush (though soft enough) doesn’t pick up or attract dust to it.. Like at all. So I end up moving the dust around the screen, but not off the screen thanks to the bezel catching it. Oh well. I kinda wish LG would actually make their OLEDs with a thicker bezel. Their OLEDs are literally rolled onto a sheet of glass & they call it a day. |
