Default Need help on figuring out which box sets to get

SO I am looking to get a Terminator, Jurassic Park, Friday the 13th, Halloween, Resident Evil, Rambo, and Paranormal Activity box set.

I already own the older Terminator Anthology box set, the Jurassic Park Ultimate Trilogy box set, all individual paranormal activity blurays, the Green Rambo box set, and most of the individual Resident Evil blurays.

I looked into the new Jurassic World box set and looks like that has pretty much all the special features that my current one has so I will probably get that, but I am confused on some other ones.

This Terminator box set has all movies, but does it have all the special features that the old Anthology bluray had: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/the-ter...?skuId=6434910

Are there any Friday the 13th and Halloween box sets that have all movies released to date of them plus special features?

Does this Rmabo box set have all the special features of the older 4 move complete set (the green one with the knife on the cover) https://www.bestbuy.com/site/rambo-1...?skuId=6395963

Are there any Resident evil box sets with all movies in it plus special features?

For Friday the 13th, you want the Deluxe Edition box set from Scream Factory.

For Halloween, you’re looking at piecing the series together right now or buying some very expensive out of print box sets (and those won’t have 2018 or Kills). Distribution rights are spread over several studios so the logistics of getting them all together is difficult.

I believe Paramount has a big Paranormal Activity boxset coming soon.

If you want the most out of Rambo then the 4K Steelbook set would be it (you could also just get the individual 4Ks). The 4K discs has new extras not on the previous Blu-ray discs plus both cuts for the 2008 film.

Terminator is trickier. I have no idea what disc for T2 is included in that set but there hasn't been a definitive Blu-ray release for it. The Skynet edition has more versions of the movie but the 2015 release has more extras. Likewise if you want more extras for Genisys the 4K release includes the bonus disc from the Best Buy exclusive, which would not be in any of the boxed sets.

damn, looks like I will wait on new Rambo and terminator bluray sets. I don't have a 4k player at the moment, and really don't want to rebuy all my blurays to 4k versions

My mistake, the Blu-ray discs included with the 4K releases do include all of the new extras. The one thing that would only be on a 4K disc would be the theatrical cut for Rambo '08. But I cannot confirm if the 5-film Blu-ray only set uses those same discs.

Well if you want to rebuy all of those boxsets in blu-ray, you might as well upgrade and buy the 4K UHD movies, since you have a 4K TV I assume. 4K Blu-ray players with HDR and Dolby Vision are reasonable now, and you can get one for just a little over $200.00 or less, and your standard Blu-rays will upscale to 4K and look very good. If you have a 4K TV, it's best to get the full benefit out of it and buy a 4K Blu-ray player to go with it. The price for one of those boxsets can get you a nice 4K UHD Blu-ray player.

Years ago I put up a spreadsheet on Terminator movies

I say just piece it all together from old releases.

Terminator original has a missing documentary so you need to go back to the DVD crappy flipper to get the "Other Voices"' documentary.

Terminator 2 has much more problems. Just about every release has exclusive extras.

To get the most extras, the original Studio Canal Ultimate set that originally came in the steel cover had tons of stuff that was only ported over digitally on Sky Net.

The Extreme edition DVD had the first HD copy on the rom, but it also had more exclusive extras.

Skynet bluray also has exclusive extra.

Then there is the smeary 3D version that has some more extras.

Finally the 4K version I don't believe has anything extra, but why miss out on that DNR crappy goodness?

I think the older versions even going back to laserdisc had decent sound. The old Ultimate really was ahead of its time. There are international releases that have a few extras not included..I just try to pretend those don't exist.

Terminator 3 only suffers from being Dolby Digital. You gotta import that to get the full Dolby True HD soundtrack.

Other then different cuts, after 3 Terminatory is pretty easy to collect.

Rambo 4K sets deemed all previous sets back to DVD useless. I was so impressed with how many extras were carried over!

For Resident Evil...gotta go with the 4K Sony set if you can find it (although there is an international bonus disc for the Final Chapter and of course the 3D versions). No love for Underworld? Great set with Sony too. The only reason that I know about that bonus disc is that I have true allegiance to 3D.

You are aware that you can play 4K on a regular HD TV right? All you need is the player and the discs.

Friday the 13th...get Shout Factory Deluxe set as others have mentioned. Jurassic Park..get the 4K complete set.

Halloween is a bit of a mess. I won't touch that one, but can only say that Shout Factory is a good place to start. Paranormal Activity..just wait for the complete set coming out.
