Year/Make/Model
What year did you get it/how old were you? How long did you have it/why'd you get rid of it? I'm sure most people (or at least just guys) have fond memories of their first car, and stories to share about it. So let's hear them. My first car was an '88 Honda Accord. I bought it when I was 16 (in 2000), before I even had a license (it also had a manual transmission, which, at the time, I didn't even know how to drive...I just thought it was cool). ![]() I jokingly (and misleadingly) referred to it as "The Sexmobile" throughout high school. During junior year (in 2001, after saving up more money) I bought a '91 Nissan 300ZX, and used this car more often during the spring/summer (and used the Honda for the wet fall and winter months). ![]() (Mine looked pretty much like this one...stock except for some exhaust upgrades that the previous owner did, and an upgraded stereo and speakers...but the paint wasn't as nice) I stopped driving the Honda by college (and replaced it with a '92 Audi), but left it parked in the street. One day it was gone, and I found out it was towed away because people thought it was an abandoned car. When I went to the impound lot to pick it up, the windows had been smashed, and the stereo/speakers which I had installed were stolen out of it. Kind of surprising considering the impound lot was surrounded by tall barbed wire. I smell a conspiracy. Anyhow, because of that, I let them keep the car, and the Sexmobile was no more. I still have the Nissan, but haven't driven it in probably 4 years now. Now that I'm done with school, I'll probably treat it as my little project car, to mess around with on weekends in the garage (it could use a new paint job too). I'm fond of the T-top. September of my senior year in high school, 2003.
First car was a white 1999 Mercury Cougar V6 bought for $4,500 - the "Cougy" as it was affectionately known for the year it lasted. First year of college, due to the near mechanical failure of the Cougar (one year) I was given my mother's 2000 Mitsubishi Galant. Early Christmas, as in Thanksgiving I received as a graduation present (albeit late) - a brand new 2004 Mitsubishi Galant! "Michelle" - and with her I have 4 years of memories, and could never trade her or drive another car until her death. My pops gave me his '02 Ford Expedition three years ago to have as well since he never used the damn thing and had gotten a smaller car, but then with gas prices last year I stopped using it (only used it when I needed it as it was) and gave it to my sister when she turned 17 this past September. ![]() ![]() ![]() Of course I've hispanic-ized the thing to death, but only visually. Mine was a 1998 Mercury Sable LS in cobalt blue, purchased in 2002. I was 35 and had never previously needed a car living and working in London, England. In the end the deal breaker was the cd changer in the trunk. Worked well until I effed the wheelbearings.

I do not remember the exact year but it was a beat-up Ford Grenada that had 150,000 miles on it. The windshield leaked when it rained and the power steering was shot. Thankfully when I turned seventeen I got a brand new Toyota Celica GT-S...
