I'm sure we all have our opinions about certain movie franchises that never seem to end. Whether its sequels, reboots, or retcons, what are any of your thoughts on a series that needs to hang it up? As a counter point, tell me a franchise you'd wish would come back.
Me? Friday the 13th. After recent reports of the lawsuit ending, but not in a positive light and even Hodder speculates we'll never see Jason again, I feel like maybe this is a sign that the IP is finished. As much as I'd love to see a 13th entry in the series made to really end the series properly, there isn't much else you can do with Jason. He's been to NYC, space, hell, Springwood, he's been "final" killed twice, and even remade as a greatest hits of the first four bests of F13th. Even though the reboot has its share of critics, it's not the worst film to close the book on. An IP I'd like to see come back is TRON. There's more potential for sweet cyberpunk movies. |
