Default Franchise Loyalty?

I've upgraded a couple of times over the years...

Anybody else?

Dragonball and Ghibli.

Earlier this year I sold all my disney and other bad version of ghibli movies and imported all the JP/HK BD versions of the films at great cost.

Right now I'm in the process of selling my Orange brick DBZ sets and replacing them with Kai. Once again, at great cost.

I just just love these things so much but it's so bothersome

I am a fan of:
  • Akira--own on DVD (the two-disc special editon) and first-print Blu-Ray. Own and read all the manga too.
  • Belladonna of Sadness--own on Blu-Ray. It was a dang good blind-buy, and this disc is probably all I'll ever need for it.
  • Berserk--I long considered this the best story ever told. Own on DVD, which I later put into my own Steelbook and made my own art for it. Bought the UK Blu-Ray set (and it is a thing of beauty). Also own the new movies, one of the video games, and 38 volumes of the manga.
  • The Cowboy Bebop--own both the series and movie on DVD (in fact, I had the original DVDs then upgraded them to the "Remix" edition) and Blu-Ray. Have all the soundtracks too.
  • Dirty Pair--have the show and movies on DVD.
  • Elfen Lied--own on both DVD and Blu-Ray.
  • Evangelion--have the original series in the platinum edition in a nice big box. Have the three new movies. And, of course, the End of Eva. Never did get the Death and Rebirth movie though--didn't see the point.
  • FLCL--own the Blu-Ray and ultimate edition DVD set (which came with stickers and stuff!). Read the manga, but wasn't a fan--I just like the show. Do own the soundtracks though.
  • Fullmetal Alchemist--own the 2003 series on DVD and Blu-Ray now, and Brotherhood on Blu-Ray, plus the movies and OVAs. Own and read a few of the mangas, need to get more though. Some of the DVDs came with soundtracks, so I got three of those.
  • Gantz--own the series on DVD (12 individual volumes with two episodes each, that was brutal to collect). Own the live-action movies on Blu-Ray. I really want Gantz 0 now. Also have a few of the mangas.
  • Ghost in the Shell--have bought the '95 movie twice on DVD and twice on Blu-Ray, own the sequel, own the SAC series (DVD and Blu-Ray), Solid State Society (both formats too in a Steelbook), and I have the newer Arise and New Movie stuff. Read the first volume of the manga. Got a bunch of soundtracks. All I'm missing is the live-action movie. Even though I have the US Blu-Rays for SAC, I kinda want to sell them off and get the Korean versions instead.
  • Ninja Scroll--oh yeah, I still have the 10th Anniversary DVD. Also have the UK Blu-Ray as a Steelbook. Have the TV series too. Never did see Ninja Resurrection though, I kept hearing it sucks.
  • Noir--was probably the first anime that really caught my eye, and it still has an impact on me. Own on DVD and Blu-Ray, and I have the three soundtracks. Shame the live-action series never came to light.
  • Samurai Champloo--owned on DVD, replaced with Blu-Ray. Own four soundtracks. Been meaning to buy/read the manga.
I'd say I'm a casual fan of most others I own--Vampire Hunter D (both of them), Escaflowne, Iria: Zeiram the Animation, Outlaw Star, Death Note, Excel Saga, Witch Hunter Robin, Samurai 7, Samurai X: Trust/Betrayal, Speedgrapher, and X are shows I like enough to want to upgrade to Blu-Ray (and I have for most of these now).

I used to be a huge fan of Hellsing and Hellsing Ultimate, but I think I'm kinda falling out of love with them.

Same for Bleach--the first few seasons are great, but the whole Bount thing and the stand alone movies did nothing for me, and my enthusiasm has waned.

Gone back and forth on Slayers--some of the movies crack me up, the show is okay. I do like the character(s) though.

Of course, I do like and own most of the Ghibli and Miyazaki pictures (but not all).

I have a DVD and two blu-rays of the Ghost in the Shell 1995 movie. Still need to get the 25th Anniversary steelbook. Someone hit me up if you're looking to get rid of a VHS copy.

VHS, LD-BOX and Blu-ray of Serial Experiments Lain.

I also bought the Japanese LD-BOX of Ghost in the Shell and Perfect Blue, these LD-BOX always have a deluxe package with many interesting items in it.

I never owned much anime on VHS or Laserdisc since I was too young to buy for myself (the majority of me pleading to my parents to buy me stuff was for toys), but when it comes to upgrading over the years, technically I've bought Magic Knight Rayearth three times -- the original Media Blasters complete box set DVD, the two MB remastered DVD sets, and now the Discotek Blu. As bizarre as it sounds, I'm more of a fan of the Sega Saturn game than the actual anime.

Super Dimension Fortress Macross.
I have some of the Laser Discs (series and DYRL)
I have Clash of the Bionoids and DYRL on VHS
and I have the AnimEigo release on DVD
I do have some bootlegs, but those were bought when I was less informed.

I definitely have franchise loyalty to Gundam, but it's not a blind loyalty. There are certain releases I just dont ever see myself picking up.

Vampire Hunter D, anything released, I'll grab.

The Twelve Kingdoms, I'm fiercely and blindly loyal to that franchise.

Death Note. I have the complete series and the Japanese live-action movies on Blu-ray (except L Change the World which I have on DVD). I also have one of the DS games, the All-in-one edition of the manga, two Japanese manga volumes, the Short Stories manga, a poster and a keyring.

Iria: Zeiram

It was pretty much my first anime, so it'll always have a special place in my heart (plus it's really good!). I bought every NA release and the ost, and am eagerly looking forward to the blu-ray finally.

I also have the live action movies but didn't care much for them. Personally, I wish they had made another ova instead.

I own Legend of the Overfiend on DVD. Both Uncut and the Edited version because I love the trashy dub for it. If I ever find it on laser disc, I will probably pick it up.

I have this on LD and would sell for less than the current eBay listing.
