This is what I think of you blocking my ad-blocker.

But seriously it's fine. Make another one. Young people meet chainsaw. Nothing harmed.

Franklin is the best character.

It's a shame they can't bring Chop-Top back. Probably the only thing that would make me give a shit.

Synopsis for the who can't be bothered to click the link:

Quote:
“Texas Chainsaw Legacy delves into the tranquil facade of Oasis Oaks, a gated community nestled in rural Texas. Amidst the meticulously manicured lawns and vigilant security patrols, our protagonist family epitomizes suburban bliss. However, lurking just beyond the confines of this idyllic enclave lies an abandoned property, home to the infamous Leatherface and his macabre kin. As chaos descends upon Oasis Oaks, ordinary families are pitted against the savage Sawyers in a harrowing battle for survival, where the lines between good and evil blur in a chilling confrontation of familial horrors."
Sounds like a Purge movie with Leatherface. The last one was kinda fun (& finally lived up to the franchise title by having an actual chainsaw massacre), so sure, why not.

The original TCM by Tobe Hooper is still the best one IMO because it has the most personality and character. It made the villains have personalities including the main villain, Leatherface, who wanted to please his Cook older brother and Grandpa vampire.

Quote:
Cast

Marilyn Burns as Sally Hardesty
Allen Danziger as Jerry
Paul A. Partain as Franklin Hardesty
William Vail as Kirk
Teri McMinn as Pam

Edwin Neal as Hitchhiker
Jim Siedow as Old Man Cook
Gunnar Hansen as Leatherface
John Dugan as Grandfather

Robert Courtin as Window Washer
William Creamer as Bearded Man
John Henry Faulk as Storyteller
Jerry Green as Cowboy
Ed Guinn as Cattle Truck Driver
Joe Bill Hogan as Drunk
Perry Lorenz as Pick Up Driver
John Larroquette as Narrator
If they're not going to give the villains any personality, they're missing a big part of the charm of the original film. Instead, they often just make Leatherface into a mindless machine.

I miss Sheriff Hoyt. The remake from 2003 was so good.

Jesus Christ can they stop trying to imbued things like gated communities, Gen Z kids, and all of these silly, overused modern tropes into Texas Chain Saw Massacre already.

What made the original film work so well was just how raw it was. Just some teenagers having a fun time together — a real chemistry between all the actors — who were basically baited to the Sawyers via family grave robbing.

They’ve made such a joke of this character and franchise over the last four to five films.

Not like the original wasn't meant to be a satire itself. Or that this was the first sequel.....

Maybe they'll shake things up with an ironic take on where the franchise has gone, and have Leatherface kicking his victims to death.

Yeah, Hooper’s films were good.

What’s the point you’re making?

Three words I never want to see connected together in a movie title again are "Texas", Chainsaw" and "Massacre".

The Saw is Family.

I need more family members to appear. New or old. The netflix film lacked that aspect and felt isolated and stale where as 3D was just abysmal. Leatherface was a bleh prequel but at least tried to be a conscience take on violence.

They need to use the house, have a connected family aspect, and make everything sleazy and dingy. The 2003 and following prequel were great at building a new world. Go back to that. And damn were they really violent. Capture that again.

Always down for more Leatherface!

Despite the fact that the last good movie in the TCM franchise came out in 2006.

I'll give anything a shot as long as Legacy is just an intermediary title as that makes it sound like a prestige picture--which is as far from TCM as it should be.

And yes, nothing comes close to the original. When you have the likes of Spielberg and Ridley Scott praising your (horror) film as a masterpiece, you know you did something right.

That Hooper's own sequel was a satire?

Personally, I love the idea of the synopsis and it reminds me of Jack Ketchum and Lucky McKee's The Woman, where you have supposedly civilised surburbanites contrasting with a cannibal woman who lives in a cave.

It also adds the duality of them both encapsulating themselves from the rest of the world.

Maybe this one will actually be filmed in Texas unlike the 2022 one. It was in another country.
