Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within (2001) 4K UHD

We got Kingsglaive in 4K and we are soon getting Advent Children, we just need The Spirits Within to complete the Final Fantasy movie collection.

Remember seeing this at the Cinema, then on DVD and thinking boy does it look amazing.

Not seen for a long time and no idea how it was filmed (format/res) or how good a 4K transfer would look mind.

It's possible that Square-Enix might re-render it, if their original production files are still intact. The software used back then is still in use today, though it's obviously far better now.

It might be bit more complicated than that.
Spirits Within came out in pinnacle of time when movie rendering was distributed to different passes and combined in post processing.
Meaning a lot of objects, elements like fog, hair and such were rendered to it's own image and combined later. (Actually they also rendered every light contribution and such into independent layer as well.)

A lot of tweaking and work went to post fx and not rendered 'in camera'.
Huge reason for this was long rendering times and inability to fit full scenes into memory.

Agreed that if they could do the work, it would be awesome.

This is one of my favorite films and I've been waiting for this, Stargate, John Carter, Truman Show, Cast Away, and Vanilla Sky on 4k for some time.
