Le sigh. Paramount being Paramount.

Keeping my slipcover version.

What I really want instead is Addams Family Values !!!

As I said in the general 4K thread, I was going to wait until they put out Values in 4k to get both films (in what I hoped would be a double feature steelbook) but now I'm conflicted after seeing this. It looks like it'd look nice next to the Hocus Pocus 4K steelbook, since it has that purple theme going on too.

Now I'm actually happy that I missed the blu-ray steelbook for this when it originally came out. I really like the artwork and colors on this one too.

Kinda glad to see this. I own the fye bluray steelbook but the corner of it are getting some serious fade/wear.

So why did paramount not release this when Adam's family came out on 4k a year or two ago? They figured people were going to double dip? Where's values at?

I don't know exactly why studios wait a year or so after a general release to release the steelbook version, but Paramount isn't the only studio guilty of it. Arrow did the same with the blu-ray of Elvira: Mistress of the Dark. It had a standard release in 2020 but got a steelbook release in 2021. I'll admit I'm guilty of double dipping, but it depends on the film on if I'm going to or not.

Shout Factory is well known for double dipping and bringing out steelbook releases of a film months/years after its initial standard release.

Do the prices of the standard releases usually go down when Shout does this? Not to get off topic, just wondering.

Well I'm thankful I didn't purchase the previous version but still question where Values is at? I said this back in the original 4K post where it feels like you shouldn't release one without the other.

Paramount does it all the time. They released Grease long ago and this year released Grease 2 40th anniversary.

They released Wayne's World and they will probably release Wayne's World 2 at a later date.

Addams Family was released in 4K last year for the 30th anniversary and now the steelbook this year. Values will probably come next year for the 30th anniversary. Then maybe a steelbook the next year.

Yes and no. The steelbooks are always priced higher then the standard releases and the standard releases will usually get better sale prices but I haven't really noticed if they drop their initial price. I think most do though.

I'm hoping for a Beavis and Butthead Do America steelbook.

I'm waiting for them to do this with the recent Escape From New York 4K US release. $28 for a regular slip, sounds more like a steelbook price. They did that entire run of Carpenter blu-ray steelbooks too... wouldn't be surprised to see them all over again in 4K finally.
