For such an important director I've seen surprisingly few of these films, so I might pick this up and educate myself.

Not loving those covers. Would have preferred a fancy box set.

At last some more Truffaut on Blu. Both sets are must-owns for me. Hopefully there will be more releases to follow. Especially would love Day for Night, The Wild Child, The Story of Adele H. A UK version of The Bride Wore Black would be appreciated as well.

I have only seen the Woman next door of these, and I would like to get it.
I wonder though about some others that have been released by Criterion too, what release is the best.
For starters, the Criterion ones have much more extras.

Nice! Good price points, too. Hope the box art is cool for both sets.

The MK2 commentaries alone are good enough reason to strongly recommend buying these releases.

Raoul Coutard's commentary, for instance, is one of the very best ever recorded. No amount of exclusive interviews with "film historians" would ever provide you with the type of invaluable information Mr. Coutard offers.

A Gorgeous Girl Like Me Blu-ray

Lovely presentation of the main feature. The short film looks magnificent.

Cousin cousine Blu-ray REVIEW

I'd also recommend seeing Jean-Charles Tacchella's film (see above). A lot more serious romantic comedy but with the same level of enthusiasm. (And with another cameo by Guy Marchand).

Hello Nitin,

I will try to purchase it because I don't have a screener. (The plan is to have reviews for every single Truffaut release).

We will have reviews up for The Woman Next Door (shortly), Love on the Run, and The Last Metro this week.

Also, non-Truffaut titles: We will have reviews for the Dardennes' Oscar entry, Lilting, and Joe.

The Last Metro Blu-ray REVIEW

The technical presentation is good and MK2's audio commentary with Gerard Depardieu is included on the disc. (Though the commentary must have been ported from the standard definition master that was used for the R2 DVD, because it runs at PAL speed and this means that when Depardieu and Azema are not commenting the bits from the film are slightly ahead. I don't think it matters much because if you are not fluent in French you have to read the text since the commentary is in French, but I thought I'd mention this).

Agreed. I pre-ordered both of them with the price drop but with another set so I have more time to figure out getting them.

Does anyone have any package shots of the whole box set?

I haven't seen any yet but my guess is a slipbox with slim-line cases with the same cover artwork as the standalones. This is how Artificial Eye has done these types of director sets in the past.

Your guess is correct for both Truffaut-boxsets.
