Well they may have only "78" blu-rays available on Amazon but there are more like a 100 out now. (For a big while you couldn't even find the Parmount titles on Amazon). So if people are relying on the Amazon listing, it becomes a chicken an egg thing: They "see" less BD titles available, therefore they "think" there's less titles available and maybe decide to go HD-DVD from that, or they tell other people there are "a lot less" titles on BD, etc.

Actually I find that amazons numbers and info on the war are correct only for Amazon.com Most people who shop amazon are cheap, not the type to spend $1000 on a player there. Most people who want a warrenty and be able to use it go to places like best buy, CC, ect... There are so many reasons why big $$ items don't sell as well on amazon.
According to my boss, after 11/17 BD actually had a 1% lead do to the PS3. I believe it too. We sold out of Xmen3, KOH, and LOEG, on friday.

The site founders are HD DVD fanboys. There is a lot of missing data. For example there are not all Blu-Ray products listed while all of the HD DVD are.
Also they removed the Available Players category where Blu-Ray always leaded.
I think that this site is nowhere near the truth because if it was fair it should count not only amazon.com sales but actual world wide sales data where Blu-Ray outsells hd dvd big.
Also the studio and company support is critical but they do not announce it!!!

Don't worry.

Pretty soon they'll have no choice but to stop ignoring those pesky facts that are quickly growing to the size of a mountain.

The site is correct. Far more correct than many of us have been.

Stuff like the disc rankings are irrefutable. There's no reason why Amazon rankings would be unfairly disproportianate unless Amazon itself showed some sort of bias. The numbers corroborate Neilsen's data on disc sales as well.

The future:

Yes Blu-ray will close the gap and even take the lead unless HD DVD can pick up some studios. That's inevitable but the object here is to acknowledge that "yes" HD DVD has a temporary lead that is going to diminish over time. How rapid is going to be determined by the owners of Blu-ray.

what is refutable though is that they don't even have the correct number of titles released and numbers such as that. if those aren't correct, how can everything else?

as for your future, you said "that's inevitable." are you again referring to studios switching sides or co-releasing? if so, have anything to back that up? it'd be helpful to make your argument.

if the studios stay the way they are it's inevitable that Blu-ray will overtake HD DVD and pull away.

I don't worry about what the numbers say right now because the victor won't pull away until sub $200 players are available.

No one doubts that hd dvd had some slight advantage several days ago. The point is that this single site just "missed" some major facts.

Also see this:

hd dvd - black
Blu-ray - blue

It may be correct in "Amazon" discs count, but it isn't useful as an accurate meter of titles out/coming. Even it's HD-DVD count is off (but just by a couple of titles for Hd-DVD, not for more than 20 like for Blu-ray)

Yeah I don't see how it can be correct and irrefutable either if the difference between the listed discs and the available discs is so biased towards HD DVD.

It's only correct if you're an HD-DVD zealot/fanboy.

Ring a bell?

You're not fooling anyone. You would do well not to approach me like this again.

Your post history even here, let alone at AVS and High Def Digest and www.hd-dvd.com to this day speak for themselves, along with your fanboy propoganda sigs and slogans.

If you're going to imply fanboy accusations against anyone else, do yourself a big favor and don't. You're just going to expose your hypocrisy all the more.

While I think a certain member here once had us fooled as someone who was actually a contributary of information here, I think those days have since past and the real "Shill" has come to light.

I think your posts around here have become antagonistic and they aren't appreciated. And quite frankly, If you think your converting anyone here to be HDDVD exclusive, your wrong. Most of us either already have or have had it and still prefer Blu Ray or have no interest in it at all.

You'd do yourself better to refrain from being so opinionated on something you have no first hand knowledge with. We know you can read, and you read the Fud and pipe dreams that avs HDDVD zealots spew. If you buy into all that fine, but we are mostly here to escape that funk, and if we want to hear it...trust me...we all know where to find it.

No, it's incorrect because it only counts Amazon numbers and doesn't even come close to listing all of the Blu-ray titles currently available or announced. That site is bogus and does a disservice to anyone interested in either format.

Don't even get me started on the convoluted nonsense that is the Amazon sales rankings system.

It looks to me like thedvdwars takes one snapshot in the morning, and that's it.

Amazon updates their numbers once an hour. So, while the TREND (long term) should be accurate, any given day isn't because they aren't averaging.

Now, me being a total geek programmer, I created a little utility for myself to calculate the top ten.

So, according to dvdwars the numbers are:

HD DVD: 682
Blu-ray: 3091

As of 4:23pm EST my calculations are:

HD DVD: 795.3
Blu-ray: 2736.7

EDITs:

5:08pm EDT

HD DVD: 843.0
Blu-ray: 2758.5

Gary
