The "Transformers on Blu-ray?" Mega Thread - Blu-ray Forum

I just saw Blades of Glory and in the previews before the feature, there was one on Transformers and at the end, there was the Blu-Ray logo with the HD-DVD logo. I thought it was weird because the movie has newly arrived on DVD, so I guest they had time to acknowledge that this movie was HD-DVD exclusive :P What are your thoughts about this?

Paramount was paid $150 million by microsoft to go hd-dvd exclusive a few months before the scheduled release of Transformers. It was never going to be a blu-ray exclusive but paramount definitely shot themselves in the foot by not releasing this on blu and taking m$ money. Spider-man 3 is going to blow transformers away in sales!!

Someone has probably asked this before, but anyone know if the company will release this high grossing movie on Blu Ray or am I just dreaming?

It is just a dream until Paramount's 18 month contract of being HD-DVD exclusive is over or until this war is finally finished.

chance that it will come out on blu in S. Korea or Sweeden, then all you have to do is import.

It will be reality but you still have 12 months to go unless the format war ends sooner.

would love to see a poll to see how many of us would buy transformers the movie if it was on blu ray.

Id buy mainly to support Michael Bay he has truly been a great spokesperson for Blu-Ray.

It'll be out out as soon as WB goes Blu and everyone follows in their path. Otherwise, we are looking at around February '09.

Probably a good reason right there. My only condition would be that it should not just be a port over from the HD DVD and should be re-mastered to blu's video and audio capabilities. If Bay has any say it would happen for sure.

reality. assuming the contract start from the day para announced star trek only for HD DVD (July 2007), we expect transformer on January 2009

I'd bet it would be more then the number of ppl that bought it on HD-DVD.

South Korea is Region A, same as USA, so even if it is region coded it's all good.

Yes, SK is the same region as the U.S., but there is no guarantee that they will even release this on Blu-ray. The Finnish version is also only a possibility on Blu, and who knows if it will be region coded or not.
