HDMI ARC only vs. Dedicated HDMI Input

I'm looking for a new soundbar, and some of the top rated ones, like the Sonos and Bose, only have one HDMI ARC input on the back. Will I really notice a difference between using HDMI ARC only with the TV vs having my Panasonic 820 go directly into the soundbar?

There won't be any difference, but the last few generations of LGs have dropped DTS passthrough, so that could be an issue.
