It's funny to see this, as Eureka is releasing the Murnau version, and I was thinking earlier today that a Kino version is likely coming soon too. They often have releases that are timed around the same time (e.g. Nosferatu, Die Nibelungen). So, we are getting a Faust from Kino, just not the one I expected lol

It's a pity that such a film has such a bad Blu Ray for its US release (fortunately there are other good releases like the AE or French ones [despite the latter being 1080i])
But it's also a pity that such a film has such an unmotivated review on Blu-Ray.com.

I dunno, I don't think the US release looks bad. Sokurov's films have often been intentionally kind of hazy. As for the AE release, it seems to have significant problems.

I'll definitely agree that the review here left much to be desired.

The review is indeed very short, in every sense of the word.

Not to derail this thread but has there been any word on the german 1926 version being released on BD? Just caught it on Amazon Prime and it is exceptional.

There's a great release in the UK, but region B locked. The US version would be from Kino, so you can try and contact them and request it.

Are the Kino and Eureka version of the 1926 film from the same master?
