We are moving into a rental home in a couple of days, and I am looking for a setup that is clean-looking (no wires). I doubt there are any wireless 3.1 or 5.1 systems. Am I right?
I may have to go with a soundbar and sub. Which would be the best choice for around $1k? My current equipment is in my signature (LG C7 OLED, apple 4k tv, and we watch a lot of streamed movies on Netflix and Disney Plus, and 4k discs/Blu-rays). Also, we watch some YouTube. After doing some research, I see some setups don’t play DTS or Atmos. I’d like to have the capability to play those if possible (as long as my TV would allow). Thanks in advance! I saw a comment on YouTube where someone says doesn’t play DTS? Is that right? I’m not the most knowledgeable when it comes to audio formats, but don’t a ton of Blus use DTS? |

A couple of years ago I listened to a Samsung sound bar that was 5.1.2 and the Atmos was pretty effective.
This one looks improved to the one I heard: https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product...akers/15316134 That price is Canadian. I'd guess that it's cheaper for you in America. |

Another route you can go (especially if you're painting the walls anyway) is to use cord covers. Depot carries a line from Legrand with connectors so they can cover long distances & be routed around corners pretty neatly. Once painted, they really blend in with the walls. I've used this for a couple of direct-wired 5.1 setups with a wall-mounted TV & it works quite well.
The adhesive on the back of these strips is pretty aggressive, though - quite likely to pull off paint or drywall when removed. I stripped off the adhesive foam & replaced it with Command velcro strips. It makes the eventual teardown much easier and allows for adjustments/repositioning. |
