I recently bought the Scandinavian Blu-ray edition of The Green Knight released by Scanbox/Soul Media. Unfortunately this edition have a lot of problem. To my understanding Scanbox use 25GB Blu-ray discs instead of 50GB discs. This results in a lot of anomalies and defects, especially in darker scenes. For example there is a lot of banding, to a point where it gets overwhelmingly distracting. Still there is a decent amount of detail in the daytime scenes. I'm pretty worried that other movies I bought from Scanbox will have the same problems. Have anyone else experienced this?
How can a serious company release a product in this state? Don't they have some kind of quality control? One of the reasons that we buy physical media is to avoid things like this. This is unfortunate since Scanbox do have a lot of interesting movies in their line-up. I have contacted Scanbox and I'm currently waiting for a response. |
