Default Your 2018 Tax Return Haul Thread *please read first post*

Awwwww yeeeeeeeah! I just received my tax return so I did some shopping (I preordered some of these a while ago but I haven't been charged for them yet so I'm counting them). Please post what movies you purchased with your return as well as why you purchased them. Don't just make a list and move on because that's boring!

I loved the movie (even if it's a little *too* funny) and I'm a sucker for these Marvel Steelies. I kind of wish they would've used the crazy cool poster art for the cover but oh well. I can't wait to see how this looks in 4K!

I didn't get a chance to see this in the theater but I'm a long time comic fan so of course I'm gonna check this out. DC has yet to blow me away with their new cinematic universe, although I really liked WONDER WOMAN and I think BvS is better than its rep. My expectations are properly managed and I'm just hoping to be entertained. Again, I had to go with the Steelie, especially since it has Jim Lee art!

I'm an old school Star Wars fan and I hate to admit it, but so far the PT is on track to be better than the ST. That being said, I didn't hate THE LAST JEDI. In fact, there were some aspects I really enjoyed. However, it's a bit of a head scratcher as far as building on TFA goes. In any case, I'm looking forward to revisiting it and placing it in my rankings (ESB, ANH, R1, ROTJ, ROTS, TFA, AOTC, TPM just in case you're wondering). Steelie!

This is another blind buy but I'm a GDT fan. His pictures aren't without their flaws but they're always interesting and worth watching. PAN'S LABYRINTH is by far my fave of his work. I really wish there was a domestic release of a Steelbook with the James Jean artwork on the cover. Oh well.

Skipping the Steelbook on this one since it's the exact same artwork. This is an upgrade from the VHS for me! I probably haven't watched this since the early '00s so I'm really looking forward to checking this out. As a kid, I remember being terrified of certain sequences in here. I'm actually going to invite some folks over to check this one out with me. Should be a good time.

I'm a huge fan of the source material for this one. I even got to meet Derf a few years ago. Anyways, I didn't get to see this at the theater, either. The preorders have me a little confused but I went with the "Special Edition" that's dropping next week. It's a BD-R, which is a bummer, but that's not dampening my excitement for it.

Another blind buy. I've been wanting to watch this for years. I'm a dyed in the wool splatter fan so I've been told this is right up my alley. I've also been very pleased with everything I've seen from Synapse so I'm very excited for this. I guess I'm pretty excited about everything haha.

This is a childhood fave. It's no wonder as there's a strong comic book contingent that worked on it (Steve Gerber, Jack Kirby, and Alex Toth!). It's pretty dark for a kids' show and the music/sound effects are outstanding. The title sequence is awesome and I watch it every so often on YouTube. I probably haven't watched most of the actual episodes since the '80s. It's only on DVD but I'm skeptical that something like this would even make it onto blu.

That's it for me. I was tempted to grab more but I gotta make sure I leave plenty for my savings.
