Console LAN After Halo: Has the Day of the PS3 Arrived...?

The Halo franchise, whatever opinion you have about the games, accomplished a pretty impressive thing. All of the sudden, 4 out of 5 of your friends had the same console and multiplayer game as you, and were willing to throw it and a tv into their car at a moment's notice for a massive 16 player all-night LAN extravaganza.

Personally, I'm fairly critical of the Halo series, prefereing games like UT, Resistance, of COD4, however, I'm in the minority. Although Halo wasn't ever my favorite game, I absolutely loved the fact that 20 of my friends and I could get together every couple weeks and have a massive LAN party, which in itself made up for anything the game lacked.

Now that the Halo franchise seems to be over (Bungie is not currently planning any more installments in the series to my knowledge) can all of the average joes lured by this game be converted to play other, (in my opinion) superior games? I have a vision of doing the same thing we did with Halo 2 with Resistance 2 on the PS3. A lot of my friends are considering buying a PS3 now... do you guys see this becoming a reality, or will these Halo players just go back to Gears of War?

Did you know that COD4 is the highest selling game of 2007? Even on XBLOCK. So to answer your question I would say that most people did see that Halo 3 was a money making scheem.

I now that ms recently announced that COD4 is the most popular title on xbl right now.

COD 4 is the best selling title across all platforms. Halo 3 is the best selling title on a single platform, about 8 million copies sold. COD 4 is only outselling Halo 3 because it's on PS3, XBOX 360 & Nintendo DS but it's only outselling Halo 3 by a little bit.

According to VG Chartz for Xbox 360 only Worldwide (As of 26th January 2008)
Halo 3 sold 7,105,627
Call of Duty 4 sold 4,482,341

Even if you add PS3 number (2,186,301) to Call of Duty 4 total (6,668,642) it didn't beat Halo 3

It was the Best Sell game overall because it was PS3, Xbox 360, & PC
However it Call of Duty 4 did recently became the most popular game on Xbox Live.

I am with you on this one. I hated Halo. just after christmas 06 a couple of friends that had gotten PS3 and Resistance would meet up and play together online, but then we kinda got out of it. I am hoping now that as more of my friends pick up a PS3 we can all get together online and have some fun.

And despite being released six weeks after Halo 3 it has also sold more units.

Yes it a more popluar game on Xbox Live but it didn't sell more units on Xbox 360, it sold more units overall.

I thought Halo 3 sold 8 million (worldwide?), how many did COD4 sell (PS3 version NOT included)?
