Diabolik (Manetti bros. 2021)

Eagle Pictures will release the Manetti brothers' new Diabolik movie, in both a standard and a Limited Edition on 1st of April 2022. As with all recent Eagle releases, it will come with a card.



The Limited Edition includes a Comic, a second card and a DVD copy.
Special Features:

Backstage - Diabolik "under the mask" (47 minutes);
Featurette - The special effects (2 minutes);
Videoclip - "La profondità degli abissi" by Manuel Agnelli (3 minutes)

English subtitles are included for the movie, but the extras may not have them. Interestingly enough, the movie was shot and finished at 25fps, so the BD is 1080i@25 to reflect that.

English subtitles is definitely a great thing. I might import it.

Was it any good? I think they cast some good actors in the movie but I haven't seen it. I just have a hard time imagining it standing up to Mario Bava's adaptation.

I've never seen the Mario Bava version, but I did watch Saban's animated series growing up. This movie is decent, entertaining but kinda dumb. Miriam Leone as Eva Kant is fantastic however, it's worth a watch just for her.

No, it wasn’t very good. The pace is slow, the acting is a bit dodgy and the whole thing has that modern washed-out look to it. Diabolik is supposed to be pop art but this is missing the oomph and sense of fun that Bava’s film has. If you decide to watch it, keep your expectations low.

Noticed this on the Apple TV. Will wait until it's cheaper. Loved the Mario Bava version.
