Default Unpopular Horror Movie Opinions

Because if Comic Book movies can have their thread....

-Psycho III > Psycho II
-Rob Zombie's Halloween II is the second best of the franchise
-The Invisible Man (1932) > Bride Of Frankenstein
-The Ring (2002) is one of the worst remakes of a horror film

Howling III: The Marsupials is imo a legit good film. Being off-beat does not equal bad.

The Dark Half is one of the best Romeros and King adaptations. Underrated.

1408 was an utter bore.

Fright Night remake is a solid update of the classic og.

The Keep in it's current iteration( extended cut seemingly out of anyone's reach) is perplexingly bad, one of the worst in wasted potential... I can't believe it has a cult following. It doesn't even land at an enjoyable trash level.

The first two Evil Dead films aren’t even in the Top 50 horror films of the 80s, let alone all-time.

Love that film, it's in my top Ten favourite films list.

Here's my opinion I can't stand House 1,2,4 not seen 3.

Apart from the first one and HIII, all the pre 2018 Halloween films are crap.

Apart from Jason Lives, All F13th films are dogshit.

Psycho has a lot to answer for. A woman does some immoral things, then a knife gets stuck in her with a man's hand attached and we're asked to identify with the man for the rest of the film.

I find Halloween 3 being worth anything at all is a constant overrated "underrated opinion".

I tried it again last Halloween thinking maybe I was wrong in believing it was awful. Other than the mask disintegrating idea, it is terrible.

I don't say it's underrated. I say it's good. Far better than any of the Myers sequels.

Yea but the idea of it being "very good" was not the general consensus for years, however now any time the Halloween season comes up I read articles about how Halloween III is an underrated gem of a movie.

But...it's not. It's so slow, and the visual effects work is terrible, the plot is non-sensical but not in a good nutzo way, the technology crossing with magic just doesn't work, and most of the movie is Tom Adkins just running around doing very little.

I agree with your assessment that anything Myers after Halloween 1 is pretty crappy, but I'd definitely watch a few of them before touching Halloween III again.

Halloween III is the best sequel in the franchise.

HIII being good (it's not really "very" good except for its soundtrack and O'Herlihy's performance) is not really an unpopular opinion but neither is the preference for the Myers "continuity" unpopular among Halloween fans. I think HIII is still a good horror/sci-fi that holds up well in part because it's not just another clone franchise movie. Even though it's a clone-movie.

So plucking HIII out alongside the first movie and flushing the rest down the cludgie is not popular with Halloween fans.

Halloween III sucks.

Wes Craven's New Nightmare is the second best of the franchise.

I enjoyed Freddy vs Jason more than Alien vs Predator.

The Shining is the best horror film ever made.
