Default The Hills Run Red (2009) - June 16th 2020

Amazon Pre-Order

Quote:
Synopsis:

You heard the story. The one about the goriest, bloodiest splatter flick ever, the one made in the '80s but mysteriously lost. Flash forward to now: Young cinema buffs search for the secret location where the movie was shot, hoping to find the film. What they find is that the goriest, bloodiest splatter flick ever is more than a movie. It's real. And it's happening to them. THE HILLS RUD RED vaults into a whole new level of horror as the terrified interlopers confront a demented killer who covers his hacked-up face with a baby doll mask. Wait, Babyface is just a character from the movie, right? Wrong. He's alive. He's waiting. He's thrilled to meet fans who will die – slowly, gruesomely, shockingly – for his art.

I don't think I ever got around to watching this one back in the day, however I'm always down to trying a new slasher I haven't seen before. Out of all of the SF! announced titles yesterday, this is probably the one I'm most looking forward too...

I watched it for the first time a few months ago and after years of people saying it was really good I think my expectations were some where else. It's not a bad movie at all, I think if I had blindly watched it I probably would have enjoyed it more.

I watched this a couple years ago and thought it was pretty solid. I’ll have to watch it again before I decide whether to buy it though.

Why aren't they going to do new artwork for the Blu-ray? The original poster is perfect but I still would love to see some original artwork. This is one of the best modern slasher movies.

Usually, only Collector's Editions get new art.

Ditto, it's very rare that I don't love a slasher movie but this is one of those rare cases.

I already have this one happily preordered through Amazon. So excited this is getting a blu-ray release and that I get to upgrade my DVD copy! Ironically, this was also part of a recent Vudu sale as well so I got it for a pretty great price in HD. So I'll have it both in my digital library and my physical library

Thumbs up

RMB has been talking this up on John Campea's show. He said he was producing / editing a lot of special features. He wasn't kidding!

I've never seen this, but I think a blind buy might be in order.

Honestly, the extras are great in number, but it seems a lot of them were prepared at the time of the shoot and either not finished in time or rejected by WHV for the DVD release. It's worth pointing out, too that most on-set interviews tend to be short.

Having said that, three new interviews and two new audio commentaries is nothing to sniff at, since that's more than most films get these days.

The poster/artwork for this film has always been a big turn off for me (the image of Babyface is repulsive, not to mention the overall shoddy DTV layout of the cover), but the film sort of sounds interesting, so if reviews of the disc are good, I might pick it up.

A slipcover would have been appreciated. As always. It is nice to have a "dust jacket". Shout could have also created a poster.....hell.....Even a Babyface figurine.

Thought this was a blast. Love Bill Sadler. Wish the lead was a better actor though.
