Finally, HDDCS makes an 1080p HD debut looks like. Also, its 24 fps looks like. very clean, smooth film.

Just enough balanced picture quality. Around 1/2 out of

Audio looks "stereo."

Hope some day, Eros releases it on BRD. Worth every penny for Ismail Darbar's background score and musical numbers alone.

These look just about acceptable considering the age of the film and its history on DVD. I wish someone would compare this to the DEi version.

Sound is lively and vibrant.

Maybe they down mixed DTS to stereo surround.

If someone has Eros Now membership, please confirm if HDDCS is available in 5.1 DD+?

The version on the Eros now website is a DVD upscale. Not worth checking out. And so is the full movie on YouTube.

The last time I checked the eros now website, the quality of HDDCS was awful. Sound was even worse. Not recommended seeking out for. So far, Eros have only uploaded clips on YouTube. Hope they at least upload the songs somewhere in this quality.

I can confirm that they have uploaded the movie again in Full HD. Not the most impressive image, but at least some effort was put in to putting out the full movie (with the intermission card), better than Eros's previous efforts on the movie. Great job! A dream come true for fans like me.

Why is it that the YouTube clips look more detailed and sharper than the erosnow.com version?

After all, it is shot on 35mm film unlike today's garbage digital RED and ALEXA camera's to save money.

Now looking back after DIL SE, DEVDAS, HDDCS, ASOKA screenshots in 1080p, thank god Digital Cameras were not available and everything was celluloid.

"Depth of field" is so important when watching playback songs. No garbage "gigapixels" of RED, SONY and ALEXA can duplicate it.

I personally adore the depth and fine grain 35mm films offer, but there's not much difference if a Bollywood film is shot on film since the companies degrain the heck out of the image.

Okay, there's a weird glitch with the Intermission card in this new upload as far as sound is concerned.

In the beginning of this video, you can see what the original intermission card looked/sounded like. However, in the erosnow version, the music has been replaced by a bad copy pasted audio clip of the harp effect from the Tadap Tadap Ke song

What actually is your motivation for this silly anti digital rant after rant? Seriously, some actual knowledge about these things would not hurt, would it? Depth of field does not depend on film versus digital, for starters. It depends on sensor size and lenses used. What depth of field are you talking about? Alexa etc. have 35mm size sensors or even bigger so a 35mm depth of field is not a problem. Is this your way of saying I want grain and not no grain?

^Agreed. BBC series Life was shot entirely on digital and has tremendous DoF in its images. Depth depends on lenses, not film format. Don't blame bad technique on the format.

How LOOTERA (2013) just got it right!

Knowing Bollywood's limitations of using digital RED, ALEXA and SONY compared to vastly talented Hollywood DP counterparts.

Errr on the safe side. Shoot it on super35 and turn it digital. Its the safest way even if you dont have "ace" cinematographer (99% of popular films now).

Post-2012, Bollywood cinematography has looked worst and worst in the name of keeping to a tight shooting schedule.








HDDCS will benefit the most once 4K and HDR tvs will be standardized imo. Like around 2020, All these 35mm films could be re-scanned in 4K and HDR stabilized.

This HDDCS Eros restoration is positive sign. Lets weight another 3 yrs and see if they re-scan original film in 4K and use DOLBY VISION.

Me personally, I cannot wait until LAGAAN, DEVDAS, DIL SE, ASOKA goes through 4K scanning and restoration under DOLBY VISION or HDR guidelines.

Until then, this HDDCS will do.

This one was great wasn't it!. Shot to perfection too.

One of the very few bollywood movies from this decade I enjoyed cinematography wise (camera angles, shot executions, film editing all).

Dont expect BRD release. Google Play has it for $10 in HD.

Still a bargain for such a wonderful film. I missed out on it in cinemas.
