People seem to be assuming that an upcoming release in Spain indicates an imminent US release. I don't know that this will necessarily follow. I hope it will happen, but I wouldn't get too excited just yet.

Until it gets announced in North America I'm not getting to excited because it has already been release in Germany and we haven't heard a peep from Sony since.

Unlike the German release, this is from Sony, which distributes Das Boot in most of the rest of the world, so if it's coming in Spain, as well as Sweden (there are already retailer listings for it) it's a pretty certain thing that it's going to be released in the US and elsewhere as well.

149 minute Theatrical Cut, 208 minute Director's Cut, and the 293 minute Extended Cut. AFAIK the theatrical cut is the only version not available on DVD, in the U.S. at least.

IMO the theatrical covers the story just fine. That's not to say the longer versions aren't worth it, but who has 4+ hours for a movie? I'm a less is more kinda guy who doesn't mind effecient storytelling. The extra time adds detail, but I don't recall anything critical being in those extra minutes.
