Crime Story (1986) Amazon Prime - HD??

It looks to me like Crime Story is now streaming on Prime in HD. It doesn't look great, but HD. Do mine eyes deceive me?

What a great show. Loved it back in the day and has aged well. Ahead of its time.

Wow really in HD? I would love a blu-ray release of both seasons, such a fantastic show (The DVD sets look pretty atrocious nowadays)

There are a lot of period-appropriate songs in it; I don't know if they are from original broadcast or anything is missing.

I really hope for a Blu-ray set one day. The material definitely needs an HD upgrade

Interesting. Crime Story seems to have been removed on Prime Canada. No biggie. Have multiple DVD & VHS sets. Seasons 2 & 4 of Wiseguy are also gone. Back to the DVDs for those too.

I’m don’t think the amazon/IMDb channel stream is HD. It was clearly shot on film but it looks very sd to me. Based on the songs in the pilot, this is probably prohibitively expensive from a licensing standpoint to hope for a remastered Blu-ray release.

they were able to do a Miami Vice boxset including the original songs. with Crime Story it shouldn't be impossible.

And Shout got most of the original music for WKRP as well.

Crime Story is on Peacock and it is definitely in SD not HD.

Most of those shows that say HD are not in HD on Peacock. They're of DVD quality SD. Hunter is supposedly also in HD but no way. Looks just like my DVD set.

The VHS release has the original music, some of which was changed for the DVD. [It's possible that the VHS also had changed music, but the only episodes I've ever seen broadcast recordings of didn't have any changed music at all even on the DVD. I can't confirm that it's 100% intact, but it seems closer.] When it was on Amazon, they used the DVD versions. There's also one episode where the opening scene is edited slightly differently, but I suspect that in that case, the DVD was restoring something that the network had modified, changing the opening shot to be more audience-grabbing.
