Hong Kong The Taking of Tiger Mountain 3D Blu-ray (2014) [Region A Locked]

Moderator note: There are Region B 3D Blu-rays of this film available in France and Germany but neither of those include English audio or subtitles. The only English-friendly 3D edition is the Hong Kong Region A release.

Original post:
This flick is only coming out in China. Yesasia.com does not have a pre order up but dddhouse.com does:

http://dddhouse.com/v3/product_detai...roductID=14891

Some specs: region A with English and Chinese subtitles. run time: 143 minutes

dddhouse IS SLOW TO LOAD so be a bit patient, lol. Typing it in in their search appears to be a bit faster.....MAYBE!! lol

Here is the trailer:

Thanks for the info Taygan.

The brief Tiger clips looked more convincing than the Lion from Legend of Hercules 3D. I wonder how the 3D is, conversion or filmed.

Flying Swords of Dragon Gate has strong 3D relating to this thread.

how could a Tsui Hark movie NOT be fun ?? 3D is icing on the cake IMO.

96kHz upsampled audio? - sure why not !!

Don't mince words, tell us how you REALLY feel, lol. I'm glad I can aid in making your dream come true. Let us know how the 3D is...I may pick this up next paycheck. This coming paycheck is already planned for other titles.

TakingOfTiger_3D1507121.jpg

Just ordered The Taking of Tiger Mountain 3D BD from DDD house (thank you again, Taygan, for the heads up!). It came out to 210 Hong Kong money -- so $27.09 shipped to the USA. If this is released on July 31, I would hope to have it in my mailbox in about 2 weeks.

I am glad I didn't cave in and purchase the lame 2D BD release from Well Go USA.

Cool cover art for the blu ray 3D disc. The tiger looping back to the main character.

I've seen some of his movies over the years and didn't realize it till this thread.

How was the 3D again in the Detective Dee series? Strong 3D?

Thumbs up Strong 3D for sure

To date, there are only two Detective Dee movies (both made by Tsui Hark)...and I am hoping for another installment in the future. "Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame" (2010) is a very good movie, but it was produced in 2D. This one screams to have been made in 3D. "Young Detective Dee - Rise of the Sea Monster" came out in 2013 and Tsui Hark produced it in 3D. It's actually a "prequel" to the second Dee film...and it's fantastic!

"Rise of the Sea Monster" is jam packed with incredible martial arts fighting sequences, astonishing special effects and a pretty good story as well. I was very impressed with the sea monster. As for the 3D experience, it features strong 3D and many pop outs throughout the movie.

Tsui Hark's "Flying Swords of Dragon Gate" came out in 2011. This is another spectacular 3D movie with the same strong 3D, action and effects as "Rise of the Sea Monster." "Dragon's Gate" stars the amazing Jet Li (one of my all-time favorite martial arts actors).

All three above films take place in ancient China and are in Chinese language with English subtitles. I have to double check to see if they have English dubbed audio tracks (I believe they do). My only gripe is that "Mystery of the Phantom Flame" is not in 3D (but it is still quite extremely entertaining).

This trio of Tsui Hark movies captivated me from the very first viewing (and I've watched them numerous times since). For this reason, I have high expectations for "The Taking of Tiger Mountain" in 3D, despite the fact that it does not take place in ancient China (it is set in the 1940s).

As you can tell, I am extremely excited that I will soon be able to see "Tiger Mountain" in 3D. I will post a review after I see it (hopefully, in about two weeks).

By the way, there are a few other very appealing Chinese 3D movies out there (not Tsui Hark), but you'll have to hunt down imports to get them in 3D:

"The Monkey King" (2014), starring Donnie Yen
"Tai Chi Zero" (2012)
"Tai Chi Hero" (2013)

These three have extremely impressive 3D as well along with great action and effects.

Thanks NYComet.

I have Flying Swords of Dragon Gate 3D and the 3D is very strong, great 3D and good action.

Knowing this is the same guy in charge, I'm definitely interested in seeing his other 3D offerings. Thanks!

I saw 'Flying Swords' in IMAX 3D - that was near euphoric - will have to check out 'Rise of the Sea Monster'

Hopefully no further delays. Sometimes it's a result of the disc manufacturer getting the order messed up and causing a delay.

Thanks.
29.99 sale probably won't last after release week as I've seen the prices jump up fast after a movie is released.

Hmmmm. seems like there may have been an additional delay with this 3D BD of Tiger Mountain.

I placed the preorder on July 29, 2015 at DDD House. I received the shipping notice today (August 29, 2015).

Based on past performance, my copy of Tiger Mountain should arrive within 8 to 14 days.

I'm really excited about this 3D movie and I will post a review as soon as I see it (the day it arrives!).
