Default Popular franchises that haven't been milked yet.

What famous films or franchises have not yet been bled dry by Hollywood and would you like to see more of them or do you dread the inevitable announcement?

I will start. Gremlins. How are there only two of those movies still? Yeah there have been rumours in recent years but the last film was made 32 years ago!! I would love to see more, especially if ot manages to get Pheobe Cates back on screen and they stick to puppets (which of course they wont).

Yeah but I'm old fashioned. If it isn't live action in theatres it don't count. It's why JP is my favorite movie but never seen Camp Cretaceous. It may be ignorant I guess but I just see em as separate things. I want a "proper" Gremlins.

Dredd would be nice to have a follow up movie. I know there was talk that has not gone anywhere about a show but unless it is TV-MA i doubt it would be as good and even still i really don't care for TV shows unless they have a story arc and planned end date.

It's just unfortunate that the numbers were so few

I'm surprised some of the Dr Suess films never had sequels, only reboots from what I remember

Even though I think part II ended in a relatively final way, I woulda liked one more Fright Night with the og Peter and Charlie. There was talks of a third, but of course thanks to the Menendez Brothers, it was unceremoniously killed off.

I like to think that maybe part III would involve the patriarch of the Dandridge family.

Up until the last movie I would say that Ghostbusters was criminally underutilised post '91

Yeah loved the first two. Were they box office successes though?

Amazed there was never a Roger Rabbit sequel. There were just a few Roger shorts, and nothing else.

It would be nearly impossible to top the original. Not to mention, extremely unlikely for WB to allow their characters to appear in a Disney movie again.

There's been a script forever, Disney just doesn't want to do it.

First one turned out to be Columbia's biggest hit that year(they thought Perfect was gonna be their big hit), but part 2 wasn't because of the severe lack of theater showings thanks to the sons of the head of VISTA Organization murdering him in cold blood(The Menendez Bros.) just before they were going to distribute the film to a wide audience. Everything just kinda fell thru and part 2 was treated with a shrug by whoever was left to mop up the now defunct Vista company.

Out of the few theaters it did go to, the ticket average per theater was astounding though at almosr $4,000 a theater. It still pulled 3 million from 148 theaters after like a week in running. Had it been given a proper wide release it would have done solid business. That's 1989 dollars mind you.

Fate just wasn't kind to it, having nothing to do with audiences not giving a crap. Just tragedy.

Careful with this thread.... we DONT want any studio execs to see it so they get any goofy ideas. LOL.

Lets see, what hasnt been ruined yet or !@#$% with by some acquiring company?

Lord of the Rings - although Amazon is taking the the first shot at it.
Jaws
E.T.(as mentioned above)
Back to the Future - thankfully no one can screw with it thanks to Bob Zemeckis blocking the IP-milkers from doing anything of the sort.
The Godfather

I might think of more but those are some big ones.
