Originally intended as a sequel series to ER with Noah Wyle returning as Dr. Carter, contract disputes meant that didn't quite pan out and instead the show is its own thing. Each episode will cover one hour of a 15-hour shift at a Pittsburgh hospital.
Premieres tonight! |

Really liking the show so far. I actually thought it was more realistic than most medical shows. Even the actual medicine is pretty good, a lot of times on other shows I'm rolling my eyes at the treatment plans or the obscure maladies that they instantly recognize and treat even though in real life they might have never seen a case of it. The only thing bad so far was the pathetic way he was doing CPR, but nobody does that right on TV anyway. I'm certainly hooked to keep watching. Surprised they got Noah Wylie to come back to being Dr after his long run on ER though.

I haven't started this yet, but hopefully will be able to this weekend. I'm a huge ER fan, but I've never cared for other medical dramas. I'm hoping that, with some ER talent involved with The Pitt, this will be a new fave.

First episode was very good. It really gave the same vibes as ER, albeit with swearing and some pretty nasty gore in regards to injuries. Mostly, it was that edge-of-your-seat feeling of one patient after another needing attention while the doctors try to do their jobs as best they can. The characters seem pretty vibrant and well defined from a first introduction.
Very impressed and looking forward to more. |

Absolutely loving this show. My wife and I were E.R. die-hards back in the day. The Pitt does not disappoint. The 50 minute runtime absolutely flies by. Feels like about 15 minutes.

Really enjoying this so far. Like the idea of it all being set withing the same working shift, be interesting to see if the characters start to fade physically and mentally as each hour passes.
And for anyone who wants to play Pitt bingo, how long into each hour before Whittaker is covered in some kind of fluid, liquid, etc.... |

I was wondering what I would think of the entire 15-episode season covering one, 15-hour shift, but I'm really digging it. The characters are well-acted and interesting, the storylines feel pretty real, and it's neat to see things being seeded in these earlier episodes that will certainly come to a head later in the season/shift.

Episode 8 was heart rending. A lot of tears here.
I think the show has really found its stride, and it's episodes like this that show the strength of the format its chosen. We have the longer-term sadness of the parents who have lost their teenage son, slowly coming to terms with it, contrasted with [Show spoiler] in this episode. The way the show was able to pair these stories was exceptionally powerful.

This show continues to be awesome, so happy it got renewed.
Great article at Vulture on a real ER attending reviewing it here. The TL;DR is that he thought it was incredibly realistic for the medicine and a lot of the interplay. The only thing he thought it was a little too dramatic was her confronting the pedophile like that. |
