Drive (1997) has been released on 4K UHD by 88 Films in the US, just like the UK. Originally it was MVD that was planning to release it, but it looks like they worked something out with 88 Films instead.

Starring Marc Dacascos (CRYING FREEMAN, JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 3 - PARABELLUM) and Kadeem Hardison (I'M GONNA GIT YOU SUCKA, VAMPIRE IN BROOKLYN) This fast and furious action flick combines the superhero film with the cop buddy movie in a high-octane chase feature populated with explosive Shaw Brothers style martial arts set pieces in a bombastically entertaining slice of nineties fun.

Like a sort of mash-up of ROBOCOP, IRON MAN and LETHAL WEAPON with added Kung Fu along with an all-star supporting cast cast that includes Brittany Murphy (Clueless), Sanaa Lathan (Alien vs Predator), Tracey Walter (Repo Man) and Ron Yuan (Mulan), this unashamed hybrid genre piece will keep you hooked with its thrill a minute pace and fabulous science fiction premise

I just caught that as well... funny how a film that had no disc release for 20 years suddenly has a blu-ray last year, and a blu-ray and two 4Ks this year, lol.

While I do have a positive bias towards 88 Films (for obvious reasons), I think the final "tie breaker" will be the encode... and if by chance 88 has David M./Fidelity-In-Motion in their corner, that could be all she wrote.

I’d heard this was a good seller for them on blu-ray. Glad to know it was good enough to justify a 4K release.

I've been wanting to see this for a while. I was planning to buy the BD but never got around to it. Glad I didn't. I'll be picking up the 4K for this.

I only see the details of the 88 Films release on Zavvi.
It says both theatrical and extended versions in 1080p. The whole description of contents seems to be a copy of the blu-ray, so anyone know or have more details?
Will both versions be in 4K?

Not really sure what's going on, but 88 Films have listed their 4K release as coming to the US in August.

In this case it wouldn't make sense, since MVD is their distributer in the US. MVD isn't going to release their competitions release over their own. I'm guessing some sort of terms were reached.

That would be strange but Dark Force had some choice words for them recently. Maybe the MVD Federation is teetering from the war effort.
