USA Jodorowsky’s Dune

Quote:
Finally this afternoon, we come to our release news: We’ve just confirmed with studio sources that the much-anticipated Sony Pictures Classics documentary Jodorowsky’s Dune will be coming to Blu-ray and DVD later this year from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. The film begins a limited theatrical run in New York and L.A. later this month, on 3/21. We'll post all the final Blu-ray details (and the street date) as soon as they’re available. Meanwhile, here's the film’s trailer...

Wished it would open further than solely LA/NY. Guess I'll be catching this OD or at Redbox. It really does look interesting.

Nice to know that it will be coming out on home video. But, I realized that it is a great tie-in/promotional piece for the new Jodorowsky movie. At least I hope that that film goes wider. However, doubt it will play in my area.

Looks interesting, I am in. I'm a big fan of Dune, warts and all so any supplement that is related to it is welcome.

I missed this when it played at the local documentary festival (CPH: DOX) last year. Everyone I know who saw it have been raving about it since, so I am definitely going to get it.

I caught this last weekend at True/False and it's a blast from start to finish! It's easily one of the best films I saw at the fest. It's a terrific story and any fan of cinematic sci-fi will have a ball with it. Another new documentary to keep an eye out for is Tim's Vermeer. This is another great film you won't want to miss. Both films are incredibly enjoyable and I highly recommend them!

Interesting...reminds me of Terry Gilliam's documentary, Lost in La Mancha. Which also attained critics praise and adulation for a moment in 2002.

Love these documentary film disasters...always a good ride.

However, I really want to see Jodorowsky's most recent film, The Dance of Reality "La danza de la realidad".

I heard about this topic. Is this worthy of a blind buy? I'd been debating whether to get this other doc, Room 237, but heard it wasn't that well received.

I saw it at my local film festival and it is sweet and sentimental.

It is a natural progression from SANTA SANGRE.

Well, its good to be wrong sometimes. Just got back from the local theater where they were showing Jodorowsky`s Dune. I will certainly be picking this up when it is released on blu. It presented the story in an straight-forward fashion that left me with wanting to know more. It is really interesting what he would have done with the story had they had the chance to actually make it. But, it could only probably be done with today`s technology the way it was laid out. Or, it would make one hell of an animated film. Jodorowsky`s Dune would have been EPIC. The landscape that they were putting together would have been Star Wars, Blade Runner and Alien all rolled into one but with an grander theme. Yeah, I know. But, it was way ahead of its time for sure. Just seeing the storyboards and artwork that they were working on was certainly amazing!
