Their Blu Ray of Christiane F wasn't English friendly, so I doubt this will be, but would be delighted to be proved wrong.

Looks like you are right, the specs say:

"Untertitel: Deutsche Untertitel für Hörgeschädigte"

I wonder why they do not slap on International & English subtitles? Should be simple to do to increase sales dramatically.

Is it a licensing thingy for this movie?

The BD was on my wishlist for a few years. Glad I never imported it now. My native language is still good enough that I don't need subs.

they probably updated the page, now "Englisch" subtitles are also mentioned

https://www.eurovideo.de/dvd-bluray,...kino-film.html

click on "Ausstattung". also you can check the Amazon listings. all products have back covers uploaded and they all mention English subtitles

I submitted updates to the three product listings in our database

Release date is updated to 07.04.2022 which is only 9 days from now.

Has anyone here ordered it? Would be appreciated if you could share some impressions when it arrives in that case.

Very interested in this one. It's been year since a last saw it.

Thank you!

IMDb says the runtime is 138 min. It used to say that the (this) 131 minute version is cut. Not sure if that's correct. In any case I can't find any info about a 138 minute "original" cut.

Yup, the back confirms both the UHD and BD have English subs. Never seen this, good enough for a blind buy?

Haven't seen it in decades. The movie is set in the 70s of West Berlin, very particular setting and atmosphere. Great scenes from David Bowie concert. If you have enjoyed "Requiem for a Dream" this might be something for you.

Yes, the runtime of the uncut version is a bit confusing. Searching the Internet there are plenty of references to a version that is 138 minutes. But there does not seem to be any clear description of what additional scenes it should contain compared to the one that is 131 minutes.

Some discussions about it here though:
https://moviechat.org/tt0082176/Chri...7-missing-mins
https://movies.stackexchange.com/que...f-christiane-f

Also, there is this Amazon entry for a DVD saying it's 138 minutes:
https://www.amazon.com/Christiane-F-.../dp/B00004W0T9
But checking that EAN number (5028836030058) elsewhere it says 131 minutes:
https://www.laserdisken.dk/html/visv...a?a=b&vare=436

So maybe the original uncut version is 131 minutes, and the 138 minutes is just a specification error that has been made somewhere and then been replicated to other places?

I contacted Eurovideo to get clarification regarding the runtime and got this answer:

"the version we release is the uncut version, running time is 131 Minutes."

Since it's uncut, I guess this means there is no version of this movie with 138 minutes runtime (so the info on e.g. IMDB is incorrect in this regard).

They also confirmed the English friendliness:

"And by the way, we release the DVD,BD and UHD with English subtitles."

Is this their first UHD release? Their previous Blu-ray release was not that great and I wonder if this will be a new restoration or just an upscale from BDto UHD .

I can confirm that it has English subtitles on both the UHD and Blu-Ray.

The UHD has no HDR and it's darker than the enclosed Blu-Ray.
Both have exactly the same menus and chapter stops.
The UHD is probably just an upscale and nothing more.
I prefer the Blu-Ray.

Robocop is an example of how you could/should treat a classic 80s movie!
