Default Saw Ultimate Collection 4K + Bluray

Looks like Via Vision are hitting the swag train hard with another 4k release, this time with the Saw: The Ultimate Collection – 4K + Blu-ray with exclusive replica REVERSE BEAR TRAP set.

13-disc in total with 3x 4k Discs and 10x Blu-ray discs with Saw (4K), Saw II, Saw III, Saw IV, Saw V, Saw VI, Saw: 3D – The Final Chapter, Jigsaw (4K) and Spiral: From the Book of Saw (4k) all in a swaggy trap replica.

The "replica trap" looks a bit cardboardy to me considering the $399 asking price. Seems like Via Vision is starting to get onto the 4k bandwagon with two 4k announcements in a week.

I wonder what other 4k releases are incoming.

Via Vision must have a new deal with Lionsgate since they've pumped out this and Dirty Dancing.
I wonder if it's set up so Roadshow gets new releases and Via Vision gets catalogue rights? Wonder how StudioCanal's Lionsgate rights work though since they seem to get a few titles from them too.

I'm sure we'll see a standard edition for a more reasonable price at some point and I'll grab it then since I haven't actually seen any of these films. $400 for already released discs and a (probably cheap) replica is pretty steep. Would rather just import the U.S Lionsgate 8-film blu-ray set for ~$30 and then import the 4k release of Saw, Jigsaw and Spiral seperately. But for massive fans of the franchise, this looks pretty fun.
Shame they couldn't get the other movies on 4K, but Via Vision can probably only do what has already been released. That would have been a great get.
Great to see another local label getting into 4K though. Thanks Via Vision!

Wow another trap set of saw, I wonder if it’s as good as they first one that I got over 10 yrs ago.
Obviously the other was just blu ray and will missing the newest films, so looks like a must for me.

It doesn't say, but would these be the theatrical or unrated versions?

The only example I can recall of an LG title coming out here through SC is Apocalypse Now. Generally it's LG porting SC's encodes for the US market, but aside from that one exception the reverse never seems to occur.

The ones that pop up off the top of my head are Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, Spiral, Bombshell and the John Wick movies. There seems to be a pretty sporadic spread of Lionsgate titles across StudioCanal and Roadshow.

Those were all through Roadshow, StudioCanal ported Lionsgate's 4K of Apocalypse Now for here and Europe/UK just like they did with the old BD, but that was just due to the specific licensing of that one movie. None of Lionsgate's other back catalog 4Ks have gotten local releases here, Roadshow either isn't interested or there's a rights issue. Hopefully ViaVision has picked up the licensing for all LG's catalog stuff so we might get local 4K releases of other catalog stuff like The Punisher, Punisher Warzone, American Psycho, Rambo 4 etc.

Except for the first John Wick film, which was Roadshow before the sequels were released by StudioCanal, none of those Lionsgate movies I listed were released here via Roadshow either theatrically or on disc. The listings on classification.gov.au list StudioCanal as the applicant for all those films on their various mediums and the database listings here show StudioCanal (via USPHE) as the distributor for all those films on disc.
Catalogue rights are obviously different and it seems those might now be with Via Vision, but I'm just saying that new release films from Lionsgate are pretty split between StudioCanal and Roadshow.

Yeah, it's a convoluted mess really. Lionsgate and StudioCanal basically share a symbiosis of sorts, distributing/porting each other's titles in their respective territories, while in this region it's usually Roadshow but also sometimes Universal and/or SC. But unfortunately LG have so far kept most of their catalog 4Ks to their own, only releasing them in the US and UK. Since all the Saw films' previous releases were through Sony, hopefully that means Via can get the rights to all the LG titles previously distributed here through Sony.
