Stupid crap I read in the Facebook comments:
The Synapse disc uses the same master The Synapse disc is already 4K It won't be an improvement over the Synapse disc despite it being a new 4K remaster whereas the Synapse disc is from an old DVD master |

All the same it should be very interesting to see comparisons between the 110 Synapse disc and what Arrow puts together.

I know there are probably rights issues and it would possibly be expensive, but I wish they would get a few actors to impersonate the original voice actors in the scenes which have no English dubbing. It probably wouldn't be perfect, but I think it would be less jarring than switching to Italian suddenly.

I already have the Synapse release so Arrow need to ensure all 3 versions are included if I'm to be tempted.
A genuine 4k UHD would be great. |

They're working in 4k , they end up with a 4k restoration. Why not test the water and actually release the 4k onto disc?
I can't really get excited about 4k restorations on Bluray. Even a 2k restoration won't be at its best so it seems over the top to put 4k onto 1080. Of course doing a new restoration means they can clean up the print and remove all the imperfections that were present on the 2k. But you'll still only get 1080 The Italians have already got the ball rolling with a UHD of Dawn of the Dead (1978) so it would be great if we could have the option on some Argento. Be nice for Arrow to release perhaps a LE of 500 and see if the market is good enough to make it worthwhile |

Not one of my favourite Argento films but welcome news all the same. Means that I can retire my current, noise reduction heavy, Arrow blu-ray (Cex are offering 11 pounds cash for it). If I was multi-region and had imported the expensive Synapse blu-ray, I would probably feel slightly gutted at this news.

I'm not a fan of hybrid editions as they are unsatisfying and sometimes unnecessary. I think it's agreed DEEP RED's longer cut was not dubbed into English so the hybrid is a good compromise if you want to enjoy the longer cut but yearn to keep David's gorgeous voice in the mix, however where longer cuts exist in Italian, I would generally prefer to have both in the pack separately. In DEEP RED's case, the choice made was perfect; you can watch the long cut in subbed Italian or hybrid audio, but you can also watch the shorter, all-English version. Sometimes a hybrid exists but offers no alternative viewing option so you're forced to accept it. An example is Anchor Bay's DVD of CUT AND RUN which opts for the 'harder' takes in Italian language but these were indeed dubbed into English. Longer cuts should be presented in the language of the market for which they were prepared and with hybrid tracks as a compromise, but where a shorter English language version was created, that should be on the disc or in the set as a legitimate alternative.

I'm open to Arrow's release. I already have the Synapse release but I'd be down for new/different extras and if the long cut is restored. The Synapse had to use an ancient DNR master. But Synapse is very transparent in their work so I don't mind supporting and having both even when the rights holders don't allow them to perform their own transfer. I love the audio options and Creepers cut!

Because it's certainly expensive as hell for independant labels (especially for a UK-only release) and that it won't do much sales simply due to how few UHD customers there are currently.
