Warner Bros Two Looney Tunes Movies, Merry Little Batman Currently Being Shopped Around by WB

Quote:
TVLine hears that all six projects, mostly from Warner Bros. Animation, will continue production while they are shopped to other outlets.

This news of course comes amid numerous programming changes at an in-transition HBO Max, where some projects are being nixed and others that already stream on the service are being (not-so-)quietly removed.

I have a tingling that Zaslav may want to turn the Warner side of WarnerDiscovery into strictly a production house selling content rather than exhibit on their own services.

That would explain the ridiculous 90 million dollar budget tentpole goal for feature films and purging of content that may not sell to other outlets.

So at what point will Zaslav kill those for tax purposes?

Batman is spending a year dead for tax reasons.

Warners have laid off the crew for one of the projects being shopped around, Bye Bye Bunny: A Looney Tunes Musical

Sure is weird that the Batman show gets the most interest from streaming services and not a project starring some of the most universally beloved cartoon characters of all time..

Not weird at all. I'm a big classic animation fan, but sadly action/adventure has more of a broad appeal.

The Looney Tunes represents the problem of many media companies. Your past and your present don’t necessarily represent your future.

Remember the newest Looney Tunes cartoons no longer have guns.

If you were to watch the newer batches of Looney Tunes Cartoons then you would see that Elmer did in fact get his gun back for some gags

The Max Original “Looney Tunes Cartoons” never restored the guns which is the newest iteration thus far. Unless I blinked and missed it.

Yeah, and the limitations showed. Why do you think Deadpool didn't get to shoot a bunch of people in that?

I’ve watched every episode and I did not see a gun in Elmer’s hands.

It’s a shame, but not at all weird.

If Space Jam 3 and The Batman 2 were coming out next summer, which would you expect to attract the bigger audience?

Tax write off + Zaslov is one of the only Hollywood execs that understands releasing anything regardless of quality can hurt a brands value and decrease Goodwill.

I'm glad they gave Elmer his gun back. Now its about time they do the same for Yosemite Sam. The characters just aren't the same without their weapons.
