Default Will you see Fast X?

After the polarizing (at best) reception of F9, I’m curious as to how many people here are still onboard for Fast X (were they ever?). As for me, I’m steering clear and away from Fast X (both parts), here’s why:

When we’ve gotten to a point where f*cking aliens (!) or any kind of weird sci-fi shit are even being talked about as a possibility for the next movie after F9 (I’ve seen dinosaurs, time travel, teleportation and driving on the sun in super heat shields thrown around online), the series is officially and objectively broken beyond repair and I honestly don’t see how else they can get any stupider at this point, meaning Fast X is already ruined for me. I don’t care that “these movies have always been stupid”, at some point, it just becomes self-parody (too stupid for its own good) and that movie reached that point 20 minutes in (and not just because of the car stunts, either) with zero stakes to any of it to the point I was completely bored out of my mind. I can deal with the tower jump in Furious 7, the vault-dragging in Fast 5, the submarine in F8 of the Furious (barely), and I checked out of F9 in the first 20 minutes, that’s how boring and insulting to my intelligence it was, it was like a 9-year-old on Meth wrote/directed this. The #Justice4Han stuff didn’t help, either, which completely ruined Furious 7 and made it irrelevant.

And barring aliens/sci-fi shit (time travel and whatnot), I really don’t see where else they can go because you know full and well they’re gonna top it somehow, someway.

Yes. I thought the problem with the last film going to space wasn't that it wasn't realistic but that it didn't feel fun. I wouldn't mind aliens or even more outlandish stuff, as long as it is entertaining.

I liked this series the best between 5 - 7. Fast Five remains the most balanced, but #7 achieved peak absurdity and camp. I sorta like F8, but by #9 it felt like it took itself too seriously and it came off as dour and bland. How bad it is that a movie where they launch a car into space is somehow mundane?

I really won't mind any crazy direction they take as long as the tone/style matches. If it's more self-serious soap-opera storytelling with aliens or whatever, I'll probably hate it. Either way, I'll wait for streaming or a rental.

Sure, if you want the franchise to enter full memerific territory. Because it worked so well for Jason X, right?

The franchise should’ve ended at 7. I can tolerate the runway, the vault-drag, tower jump, etc., but F9 was the breaking point for me. Cody Leach summed it up perfectly (his expression in the thumbnail says it all):

Okay I agree aliens is a stretch and wouldn't really fit with the world of the franchise. Time travel and dinosaurs are really out there too. Driving around the sun in a heat shield sounds cool though. Heck, maybe they could just go to the moon and do something interesting with the reduced gravity.

Probably not.
8 was getting ridiculous, but Jason Statham’s presence and action scene made me buy it.
Number 9 was just plain stupid in my opinion.
I’ll wait to see how number 10 is received before I make up my mind.

I've liked most of the Fast series so far (haven't seen Hobbs & Shaw, though), so I'll probably see the tenth one in theaters.

Yup, love the series. F9 was a bit weak, but still fun.
