Kai is a violent fugitive on the run from the law. Making his way from Hong Kong to South Africa, he begins a new life working at a small Chinese restaurant. When he joins his boss on a work trip through the African savanna, he encounters a remote African tribe afflicted with the Ebola virus. After attacking a young woman from the tribe, he contracts the virus, but to his surprise, he discovers that he’s immune to the deadly disease. Sounds like VinSyn got a deal with Gala Film Distribution (who owns most of the post-1993 GH and the pre-1994 Wins Film Production catalogs). If so, this could be very good news for HK fans! Gala's 2/4k restorations have been pretty good (remixes aside), so they'll probably be using the best ones if they can't get access to do new ones.

I've tried doing what you said but when I double click, it just brings me to the page before I can even fix the title.

Regardless, I'm very happy that VS is releasing this as it's one of my favorite CAT III films.

Sorry, I should of specified, you’re suppose to double click around the thread title (so, the blank, grey, areas) and the title itself. You should still be able to change it yourself (I think it’s a 48 hour limit before you’d have to report to a mod to change).

Will be interesting to see because the 4K stream was pretty crap. No detail and soft as hell. And I think the streaming wasn't the uncut either.

Outside of the John Woo films, this is probably my favorite Hong Kong film. It's pure insanity and Anthony Wong's most interesting role in a filmography that's filled with insane performances.

Stupid question but is this out? I’ve never ordered direct from Vinegar Syndrome before if it’s just a preorder and I other other titles that are on sale will I have to wait for this to be out before they ship the full order? Thanks folks

It's out. If you're a subscriber, they will start shipping after the sale is over. If not, then they will start shipping titles out on Dec. 6.

Over the moon to see this totally uncut from a single master! The Austrian DVD was just the DVD deleted scenes put in the movie, provably so because of the missing frames at the beginning and ends of the cut parts. The Hong Kong DVD actually had the tongue cutting bit seamlessly in the movie, which was really strange and nobody seemed to notice it. VS has a good encoding track record and should knock this out out of the park hopefully

I don't know where this stream you mentioned is from, but I have experienced a lot of CAT III HD masters from the Chinese internet. They throw a whole slew of digital stuff at these at some point before they are online, I imagine it's a cultural thing but that's a guess really

Own the iTunes 4K from january when it was released. Wasn't impressed and I've seen what you talk about, often very small size and low bitrate with dnr so streaming isn't their strong suit. And they say "unrated" which gave the impression of more uncut than it was. Now they are releasing 4K hdr streams of new movies that are like 3gb hehe.

As comparison the german disc of untold story looked pretty great with much detail so there are good masters out there just seem many first released HK based streams is pretty bad.

The stream is no cause for concern because VS rejected that transfer when the rights holder initially offered it. They created a brand new 4K master themselves.

I wonder how this iTunes download compares to the recent HK DVD. It was a new master at the time, 2017, and like I mentioned previous it did contain one unrated scene. The claim of the movie being unrated is likely due to the fact that the CAT III version of the movie is already so beyond an R rating
