Default Do your children like to watch BLU-RAY?

My son sure does love his Blu-ray Cars, Chicken Little, Sky captain and other disney movies collection. He would stop cry when i inserted and play his movies in ps3. My son will be three months old this coming 15th. I was wondering about other members' babies if they liked watching blu-ray? My son is born Deaf in fifth generation Deaf family. The High Definition colors seem fascinated him and he would squeal and very excited to see cars. I WISH that warners would release Looney toons on BD!

Not trying to create a silly thread but want to know about babies watching blu-ray.

My son, Mason Lee, 3 months old!
Cutie eh?

Way to start spoiling the baby. Also, please fix the horrible grammar in the title.

It's silly to think that there are adults out there who is spending this kind of money on entertainment electronics for babies and young children. That is how to raise future self-centred adults.

Thinking about buying Samsung 23" 1080i white HD TV for my son with my tax money and put it near (at good distance, not too close) the crib? What blu-ray player should I get? I fav for ps3 but wondering if there another good player at cheaper price for baby only. But, I like the idea of hard drive so i can download more cartoons or whatsoever on PS3?

What other parents children tv setting? do they have hd tv for their kids or babies? will babies be ok with HD, i read researches that colors are VERY GOOD for infant's learning. HD has clear and beautiful colors and will it be ok for babies' eyes at far distance tv display?

My girl will get my 42" tv if i upgrade for new tv soon.

Serious reply please! Am being serious here.. Want to know for my kids.

Heh...did you mean to say "Way" instead of "Why". Edit: Nevermind, see that you fixed it but yeah, that was kind of funny seeing a mistake in yours when you're asking him to fix his.

2 girls, 1.5 and 3.66, big Cars fans, big Pixar Shorts fans. Ratatouille gets respect but is not requested as often.

Favorite non-BD titles include old school Sesame Street and Charlie & Lola, but probably the #1 overall hit would be My Neighbor Totoro---by the time that hits BD I'll probably be suffering through High School Musical 8...

My six year old loves watching movies on blu-ray. The next one (baby) won't be out until around August. Hopefully by then Disney will release the Baby Einstein videos on Blu-Ray.

My kid is totally spoiled! He'll be 3 in April. Hes so spoiled he wont watch tv or dvds in his room on SD anymore! Im gonna have to get him an lcd and ps3 for birthday or something. Wont let me watch tv or movies anymore, his favorite bluray seems to be monster house, and now Planet Earth. Always wanting to see the elephants and monkeys.

I don't know about babies & HD...generally the only TV our kids watch is the big one in the den. They don't have one of their own; we don't leave them to be babysat by the TV, we don't let them watch for hours every day. Feature-length entertainment is not the norm: short educational stuff makes up the bulk of their viewing. We try to make TV conditional, a reward of some sort. I still worry they get to watch too much sometimes---they get more TV time than I did at their age---but I don't think they're being developmentally hindered: the not-yet-four-year-old can count to 20 & is on the brink of reading, having read a few short words already, and the not-yet-two-year-old (thanks largely to her big sister's assistance) knows her numbers from one to ten and recognizes the entire alphabet.

I'm not interested in challenging anyone else's parenting ideas, but promoting TV viewing among infants has not proven to have a significant upside.

beside the wrong grammar, no big deal and try not get my bad 2nd language grammar a topic here. Im interested to learn about SPOILED babies or my Deaf baby with tv and I am replacing "music" to "Visual" which would be tv and people uses signing language in the house.

I am researching a new way of education for Deaf children and im interested to know. HD seem awesome way for them to learn colors and "english" language on closed captioned or Subtitles. However, i value for my culture, blindness is danger for everyone including babies. Is it ok for babies to watch TV ON HD or on 480p at far distance? I think BDA should start pushing kids movies or tv show to do blu-ray. I thank god for Disney!

All the sign language I ever learned came from Sesame Street. I think they have instructional books.

My kids are 1, 3 and 9. The older 2 get their fair share of TV and movies, but we try to limit it as much as possible. I watch Bob the Builder with my 1 y/o son, and he likes to watch hockey with dad. But other than that, it's all toys and books in our house.

There are proven scientific studies that demonstrate that between birth and age 7, a child's frontal lobes (the area of the brain that, among other things, affects judgment) are not fully developed, and that excessive TV watching or video games can severely hamper this development. However, reading, even comic books and picture books, stimulates this development a great deal. This is why we waste no time in teaching our kids to read... my parents had me reading by 3, and my 3 y/o is well on her way.
