I mean, the director can't really make Disney release it... but since it was meant to be theatrical and only shifted to D+ for COVID reasons, it should be like Soul and get one.

err cause it’s Pixar, not a cars movie, and has a physical 4k release?

Appalling that Disney are putting this straight to Disney+, just as cinemas come back in a big way. Feel sorry for all that worked on this movie. Literally THE event movie that was set for all ages this summer - after a year plus where families haven’t been able to go to the movies at all. Such a ridiculous move.

I agree with you. Terrible move I would say. This would've brought people in theaters for me. We all needed some fresh air like this

It’s like Disney are going out of their way to make people dislike them and frustrate theater managers who want the industry to recover. Which already happened with Mulan, and if anything their UK release strategy of Nomadland is the same when they put it on Disney+ at the end of April only to release it to UK cinemas three weeks later, minimising its potential as a cinema release.

If I was a Pixar animator I would be as annoyed as they are. Disney are burning bridges with Pixar, and dismantled Blue Sky. Soon enough it’ll just be Feature Animation left.

He said that he's reviewing the mixes for home theaters:

He also said that they worked on Dolby Atmos last week:

Yeah the poor folks over at Pixar never get any credit or accolades.

Pixar is currently working on Lightyear. I seriously doubt that film will skip cinema release entirely.

And before you mention Nimona, Lightyear is practically guaranteed to print money as long as it's good enough, not to mention that Pixar's brand recognition is astronomically larger than that of Blue Sky, which was already not in a good shape even before Disney bought Fox.

I also don't understand what "burning bridges with Pixar" means? Disney literally owns them, they can't just decide to not be a part of Disney anymore.

They might own them but they can still upset their staff

I didn't get vaccinated until last month, and yet I was still in theaters the week they re-opened in my neck of the woods last August.

Wear a mask, wash your hands afterwards, and going to the movies is as safe as going to the grocery store (moreso, because less people). You want movie theaters to survive? Then GO TO ONE.

And again, wasn't Blue Sky already in a pretty bad shape before Disney bought Fox?

With Cruella being released in September, I'm guessing this will be released in October.
