Default Pirates 3 - Movie's not loading on my PS3 60GB

Well this is a first for me...

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End just won't load up for me. I get the trailers, but beyond that, it just stops...it appears to be frozen at the end of the title with all the trailers in it. I can't quit playback, but I can turn off the PS3.

I've tried letting the trailers play right out, I've tried skipping them chapter by chapter, and I've tried hitting the menu button. No dice.

I'm right up to date on firmware, so it's not that I'm missing a patch.

Anyone else having issues, or did I just get a bad disc?

I watched this on Friday on my 60gb PS3, and it worked fine. I would imagine that if this was a problem for PS3's we would have heard a lot about it by now. If other movies or games are working fine, then it must be the disc.

Oh for....

I just tried it for a 4th time, and it loaded no problems.

Dunno what that was all about. Hope it's not a sign my player's going.

Good! Have fun watching the best quality PQ and AQ HD disc I have ever seen. I loved the movie too, big Johnny Depp fan

Thanks...don't think I'll be enjoying it all tonight though. Not at nearly 3 hours.

black screen after previews, tried many many times.

Same thing happened to me.

EDIT: It worked on the 4th time, but this is still unacceptable.

Entirely.

Still, I'm sure Sony will figure this out.

It worked fine for me on a PS3 60gb, I think my firmware is version 1.93 - everything seems to work fine so I haven't felt the need to update yet.

I had it stall for me as well but after ejecting the disc, then turning my PS3 off and then on, the movie worked fine.

Only BD that didn't work for me was We Were Soldiers from netflix. After a while I noticed the disc had a crack in it, not big and not from one side to the other. Maybe you have a bad disc, just a suggestion.

Default Problem on Pioneer 95fd

Hey Guys,

I tried to watch POTC / AWE today and experienced the same dilema, trailers played but the player just kept trying to load. I called Pioneer and they informed me that there was a firmware upgrade for this problem. I installed the firmware and sure enough the movie loaded properly. I guess this is going to be a ONGOING problem with this format, just wish the studios would pick a standard and stick with it.

It's called growing pains, don't forget that the PS3 is only 1 year old, as are BD movies. With different studios and different players, pushing the limits of BD are going to cause this.

If they had waited until they had a standard, HD DVD would have had such a huge jump on the market that many of us would now own them. Patiance, give it time to grow.

Default I second that

It's better to have something as great as the PS3 system than not...even with occassional issues...

When I was a PC Gamer, no game was ever released without needing a patch it seemed like...

With complex system as such as PS3, this is bound to happen but I guarantee the problem is being addressed by people smarter than us.

No problems as I put this disc in this morning. It was out of the player when the system was off. Put it back in, and it started up instantly.

I know it sounds unlikely, but does anyone figure there may have been some sort of installation process when the disc was first put in the drive?

Can you select specific firmware updates only? Like if I wanted to upgrade only to firmware 1.93 can i get that?
