Does anyone know what the odd/even source line encode option in BD3D2MK3D does? - Blu-ray Forum

So I have been trying to create files from my blu ray collection that I can keep on my computer to use with my passive 3D LG monitor and I noticed this option in the BD3D2MK3D program that says it is meant for mainly LG passive tvs that is supposed to make the image be presented in full 1080p. At first I couldn't tell the difference mainly because of the way I was swapping back and forth between the paused video using alt+tab, and I was using the built in deinterlacer that seems to blunt the difference, but when I took screenshots of a single frame I could notice a pretty big difference. Whether or not that difference was actually beneficial though is another question.

So I am hoping maybe someone else here has a passive LG screen and could share their opinion on which screenshot looks best when looking at it in 3D... Also just anyone with a 3D screen can share their opinions too. One set is with the deinterlacer disabled and the other with it enabled.

What you are talking about is called Full HD 3D which essentially has two full 1080p frames packed into a single frame. It's useful for passive 4K 3D TVs as you are getting the maximum resolution of 1920x2160. Watching on a large screen there is a perceptible difference but I don't think the difference should be that great.
