I just bought a 2nd one last week for my game room in the basement. If sony is announcing an 80gig replacement soon, I hope they do it in the next 2 weeks so I can exchange it.

Slim really doesn't do that much for me!

I agree. Plus, with a unit that small, where is the heat dissipation? Where is the power supply?

I call BS.

+1

I would love a 2nd PS3, but the current one won't fit in the space I have available in the bedroom. I only have a 26" 720p set in there, but it would be nice to be able to play games and watch movies there.

i believe a new slimline ps3 would be possible so soon simply because current 90/65nm ps3's are 50% heatsink, shoving in a 45nm cell could mean a significant reduction in cooling requirements, then combine that with a couple years of the law of technology-keeps-getting-smaller.....

but if this rumour is true i'm not convinced that's what it would look like:

When are they coming out with a Thick & Heavy version? With similar size to the Sony BDP-S500 so that I don't have to add 3 120mm fans to cool it down when playing Blu-rays.

At least someone else noticed how they very subtly slipped in that those pictures are their "artists renditions".

What do I care about a completely unsubstantiated rumor and a mock-up that no one has actually seen?

Talk about a BS article.....

I would not completely call BS because it would be about 2 yrs come autumn and if they do have 45nm cells and smaller bd drives, I can see that a slimmer version out in the wild. Doubt the 160gig though...
