great suggestion...i should also mention that i am looking for something "future proof" (which i know with receivers is hard to come by)

so what should i be looking for in a future receiver?

HDMI v1.3 and 7.1...anything else?

how much did you say youre lookin to spend?

the Onkyo line is probably the most affordable "future proof" receiver you can get right now...as long as you get the 605 or higher, you will be good to go.

The Onkyo 705 is your best best of the three you have listed there. The Sony is ok, but Onkyo edges out. The 705 is pretty future proof.

Pass on the 910. If you want a comperable Sony you have to look at least at the 1100 or 2100. If the 705 is the max you want to spend, get that one. It has been on sale a few places for $650 or less. Heck, Fry's has had the 805 for $700...

i live in Canada, so in order to get the onkyo i would have to buy it on ebay
