Default The Diving Bell and The Butterfly U.S. blu release?

Does anybody know if this film will be released in the U.S. anytime soon? I really enjoyed this film. Definitely one of my favorite French films of all time. Is there a region-free import available? Thanks!

Disney had it on a planned schedule, but later they removed 90% of all their planned catalog titles, so it hasn't been announced yet. I'm sure we will see it in 2009 though.

It's a great film, and it will only be a matter of time before it is released on Blu-ray.

A BD is certainly not going to happen in the U.S. any time soon.

France would be the most likely market where a BD might come out.

I just ordered this movie and it is an Aussie release. It is supposed to be region free. Hopefully it will play in my U.S. player. If not, I will be selling it here on the forum. lol

Cool -

https://forum.blu-ray.com/australia/...butterfly.html - I think this is the first and one of the only threads I have ever started on this forum, I'm proud to say, haha.

I have a region free player and adore this film, but the one guy on that thread who got it did say the transfer was pretty poor, so...

If I remember, I will post my thoughts about the PQ and AQ when I get the movie.

Edited to add: I ordered two copies, as you never know when one will come in handy with a trade or what not.

Yeah, I'd be interested to hear your feedback. This is like one of the top three films of the decade IMO.

This is literally one of my favorite movies. I want this Blu-Ray now.
Also, this should be moved to the "Wish List" Forum.

I received "The Diving Bell and The Butterfly" today from Australia. It only took one week. My other copy is still in transit. The price was $31.49 which included shipping.

As to PQ and AQ, it is very good thus far. There is light grain throughout. I am 17 minutes into the movie.

I can confirm this movie is region free.

It is 1080p. The English subs are burned in.

Edited to add: Some scenes are sharper than others. I don't know if it was the director's style or the transfer. I don't see anything thus far, that makes me go "I can't believe they didn't see this editing mistake..." Skin tones look very natural.

Edited to add part 2: There are no menus. Once you put the movie in, the movie starts. No previews either.
