The CGI is just mindblowingly terrible, I would love to see how bad it looks in HD. Its avaliable on Zune on Xbox Live.

Not to thread derail, but as someone who loves Zombie flicks and comics and has been quite letdown with Romero's last 2 offerings (and looks like it will be 3) I urge all of you to check out the Walking Dead comics.

Sorry to those who aware of the comic/series, but its a great indie comic that is in the vein of Dawn of the Dead that has recently been picked up for a 6 hour long episode season to debut on AMC in October. Its easily the best piece of Zombie fiction I have read or seen since originally stumbling upon the dead trilogy as a kid AND Frank Darbabont is producing, writing, and directing the show.

Again, not trying to derail this threas but rather pass info along to some who may not be aware of the great comic and upcoming series.

I concur. The Walking Dead series is nothing short of amazing.

And Survival of the Dead is further proof that Romero is now doing nothing more than using his name to make some quick cash.

Never read the walking dead, but it gets big props in the "zombie community" I am really looking forward to the live action series.

As for survival, I own all GAR's movies and have owned them on VHS, DVD & now BD. The only one I don't own is Survival, Land was poor, then he subjected us to the abortion that was "Diary", which was utterly pathetic.

I am torn between supporting the guy and giving up on him.

The comic series is great. Its basically the same premise as Dawn of the Dead but with no timetable or conclusion in sight...its about what happens long after the outbreak...as if Dawn kept going and going and going...the only knock I can put its way is that its very similar to 28 Days Later during the first issue or two...shortly after, though, it gains its own footing and is more about the relationships between the survivors and how they interact under stress more so than simply killing zombies and getting to the bottom of the outbreak.

As for GR...I'll always love the man...Im in the minority, but I loved Day and it will always hold a spot in my heart as my all time fav zombie flick...

As for survival...its playing at the local indie cinema but I'm torn.

If George Romero's name were not on this film I never would have guessed he could produce a film this mindblowingly bad. I'm a lifelong Romero fan but there is no excuse for Romero producing crap this bad. Even Diary of the Dead, which I didn't much care for, was FAR better than Survival. Please just retire and stop ruining the once great Dead series George!

Too bad it's getting such a bad review.

I'm a big time visual effect freak and was hoping for lots of blood & gore. A rental for me then.

I can't stand all the Land of the Dead bashing. That movie was great and I am a huge Romero fan. Night is classic so it can't be rated, Dawn is my favorite and Land is my second favorite. I love Day but lets face it, it's just kind of there (I still love it though). I originally hated Diary but I have grown to appreciate it. The problem with that movie is the first person camera thing it makes Romero's dialogue seem really cheesy but if you can just look at it as another Dead story it works. Please people Survival is actually pretty good, it's not really a horror film but then half of Romero's films aren't really horror films. Just looks at Knightriders, people who hate Survival probably hate that movie too (or never even heard of it). You want a bad Romero film watch Bruiser that movie sucked. Anyway just make your own opinions and watch the damn thing it's not Shakespeare but then again it's not supposed to be. I would suggest a rental unless your a die hard Romero fan. Come on you gotta give the man some credit he's old as the hills and he's still making movies outside the hollywood system, that's pretty admirable.
