Their literal quote is "I'd like to see all the shows remastered in 4K for the future." That's not exactly the same as it "will happen."

It's still a "mega hit" because younger people are discovering it on streaming, and people who watched it during its original run are re-watching on streaming, as well.

Younger people...let's face it...have no intentions of buying it on 4K disc, and aren't exactly clamoring for 4k streaming options.

So yeah, it's still very popular, but that's not a guarantee of anything. Especially anything disc-related.

Even the article you posted doesn't reference any actual plans, just a producer's wishes.

I would definitely buy Seinfeld! I've actually never watched too much of Friends but I probably should at some point.

I'm personally not a fan of Friends, but my whole family loves it, so I've seen lots of it. I'd love to get Seinfeld and Cheers in HD!

I wasn’t a fan during its original airing.

Perhaps because I was in HS/college at the time and it seemed like a show that only the ladies seemed super into. It also seemed to always be hyping guest stars toward the later seasons

I was all about Seinfeld.

Two years ago the wife and I both decided to give it a fair shake and bought the set on sale on iTunes for like $40 or something.

We both laughed our asses off— it’s a great show!! I wish I had watched it earlier.

Well I mean isn't Netflix going to have Seinfeld remastered in 4K when it gets it back in 2024 or something. I would think Friends would be remastered as well.

It's going to Netflix next month, where is it said to be 4K remastered?

To me, it doesn't really matter if it is remastered for Netflix, the compression Netflix uses kinda make it moot.

I don't. Because I know they'd use the cropped widescreen versions. I'll stick with the DVDs to my death.

With Seinfeld and Dawson's Creek jumping to 4K, this will definitely happen. It would have been smart to launch the show in 4K on HBO Max, just as Netflix did with Seinfeld this mont, but it's apparent that the current HBO Max/AT&T team doesn't consider 4K to be a priority for the service. It will definitely happen, it's just a matter of when.
