Default Sleeping Beauty to be the first Combo Blu-ray/DVD

On Amazon.com it now says Sleeping Beauty will be a 3 disc set (though not on the picture yet) and will include the actual DVD as well as the Blu Ray. It would be cool if this was a sign of things to come

First of all... what a waste!

Secondly... Thank Christ (not that I believe in him) they aren't trying to hybrid a single disc as the combo!

I for one would never buy a Blu-ray with a DVD inside of the package. I would just get the Blu-ray edition or nothing at all.

I disagree. I think this is somewhat of a refreshing twist because as a parent I enjoy the movie at its highest definition, however my children could care less as long at it plays in our minivan, which obviously at this point only plays DVD. I welcome this advantage, for movies such as this. Now TDK or Batman Begins wouldn't be as much of a value for me.

Same reasons for me as well but I would take TDK and BB like that because then i could watch them on planes, and roadtrips when im not driving

I saw this a couple days ago.

It doesn't seem to be an error, and it's not very exclusive for an exclusive offer---disneyshopping.com and target.com are also listing the Sleeping Beauty Platinum BD as 2 BDs plus a bonus DVD of the film.

I have an email in to WDHE to find out if this is a limited offer or if it's a universal change.

so....

you use your portable blu-ray player with attached LCD screen for the kids during road trips? I suppose the Blu-ray drive in your laptop makes watching BDs on the plane a simple task as well.

Default I don't get it either.

Seems like a waste, wouldn't people that want it on DVD already have it on DVD for their kids?

My sister bought this ages ago on DVD. I have a Blu-Ray player and would like this title, but I don't want (or need) it on DVD.

Seems like a waste. I would like to know how many first time buyers of this movie are excited for this option. Are there any first time buyers out there that have been waiting on purchasing this movie but now will pull the trigger because they get a regular standard def DVD and Blu-Ray.

I just hope it isn't going to be an extra cost. I would rather have a digital download than a DVD. 'Course I still haven't redeemed my digital download of AVP-R.

You're obviously not the target market. This is the target:

If the DVD were always in print, or if new babies had ceased being born when it last went out of print, then---yes, everyone who wanted it on DVD for their kids would already have it.

If the kids ever handle the DVDs they like to watch, you can't go wrong with an extra anyway.

And the price has not changed---just what you get for the money.

I'll sell the dvd...IF this is a legit move by Disney. I'm still waiting to see how the transfer will be in 1080. I guess I can see why they did it...but idk it's still odd but that's because it's the "first"

Couldn't it be the DisneyFile aka DigitalCopy disc and not just a regular DVD edition of the film?

That's my suspicion (DC's are always on normal SD, since not enough people own Blu-ray computer drives as yet to use the files)--

The Amazon illustration shows "2-disk Blu-ray + DVD of the movie"--
And as the SD would likely include the DC file as well, it saves time mastering two different SD files...

God forbid someone think that you do! Oh the embarassment!!

As long as it doesnt cost more im down with it. My son is going through a phase where he loves to put the discs in so i could use a DVD version i suppose.
