Default Sherlock Seasons 1-3 Set With Exclusive Bonus Disc (?)

My wife dragged me to the Fathom Events season premiere of DOCTOR WHO (and, yes, I mean dragged--I despise DW and proudly wore a STAR TREK shirt as a protest vote ) and during the ads/previews, they showed one for a complete boxed set of BBC's SHERLOCK (a show I DO adore--I can't fathom how Steven Moffat is behind both my most loved and most hated British TV shows) which will also feature an exclusive bonus disc (similar to the frustrating way they keep repackaging DOWNTON ABBEY, forcing uber-fans to re-buy what they've already purchased to get "the whole kit and kaboodle"). However, I can find nothing about this release on the internet, not even from the BBC Shop website. Any know more about it--most importantly, the release date?

Can't be complete when there is a fourth season in the works.

Any idea what the contents of the bonus disc is?

(P.S. You can like both Trek and Who, it's not a competition)

There is a fourth series and a Christmas special being developed.

*sigh*

Fine. Write a letter to the BBC and ask them to make sure the packaging reads "The Complete (So Far) SHERLOCK".

Nope, though they showed the cover of it, so it gets its own case, apparently.

Oh, I'm well aware. My wife is an example of such a person. I didn't mean to imply otherwise. I simply wore the shirt in a "my show is better than your show" type of passive-aggression, LOL!

Sorry but glad to hear I'm not the only one trying to find this. If I remember correctly the set was also supposed to come with what looked like 2 gold colored busts of Sherlock and Watson, am I right? I don't care so much about those as I do about the bonus disc but it could help us find it.

YES! You're right, LOL! I totally forgot about those, but they gave me a good chuckle when they came up in the commercial.

I mean, I like Martin Freeman, but why would anyone want a bust of him? or Benedict Cumberbatch for that matter?

Yes they specifically told me to go to shop.bbc.com and I go there and nothing. Seems rather odd to advertise something and then leave no evidence on the internet that it ever existed. I'm sure an announcement is forthcoming but I was really excited to check it out when I got home.

Yes, but the Christmas special was what I was getting at, because if I understand correctly is not supposed to be shown this December?

Hopefully the video for the first two seasons gets upgraded to 1080p and we get lossless audio. Kind of like how they made upgrades to some of the Doctor Who discs for last year's gift set.

You may get lossless audio, but I don't think 1080p will happen, the only reason it's interlaced in the first place it's because it was shot in 25fps, which can't ordinarily be handled by blu-ray so it would have to be slowed down...

I went looking for this right after the Fathom Events screening of the Doctor Who episode on Monday and couldn't find it either. Looks like a great set if it really is coming out.

Just finished the 3rd season this morning and wow is this show great. I'm not sure if it has replay value though once the mystery is gone. Might be worth it just for cumberbatch's performance though. Time will tell.

You might be right. I mean, does anyone even remember the books these episodes are based on?

LOL. These are based on books? (j/k)

I own the 3 previously released seasons on blu, but if the price and extra content is right, I'd be interested in this set too, especially if it happened to have UV codes for all 3 seasons.

In the UK, BBC Worldwide reprinted the books alongside the TV series (which are definitely public domain in the US, and probably public domain in the UK), so next to the DVDs and BDs instore were paperbacks of the stories adapted. I saw a similar thing on PBS' store the other day, but I don't if they're exclusive or not.

Yes, they do take story lines, characters and inspiration from the books, but they aren't whole or straight adaptations. For example: S3, E3 was based on "The Adventure of Charles Augustus Milverton".

and as far as Season 4/X-mas Episode

On 2 July 2014, the BBC announced that a full-length special episode of Sherlock will begin filming in January 2015, with a series of three episodes to be filmed later in the year. Sincerely, wikipedia.com
