Paramount The Smurfs Movie (2025) [Never in 3D]

Production of the 3D conversion has begun, and with it the confirmation of the 3D release.

The Smurfs CGI animated series is quite good from what I saw, with accurate looking character designs to the original Peyo cartoons/comics. Set in Smurf Village.

If this is a new Smurfs film, I can only hope it's taking notes from the CGI animated series and Smurfs Lost Village.

Although I'll admit Smurfs 2 was a big improvement over Smurfs 1 live-action, and the 3D was so much better too, with medium to strong 3D to my shock. Had I known that during its theater run, I would've supported it in theaters, but wrote it off as another weak mild 3D conversion, not having seen any 3D trailers of it back then to know better.

Sounds good if it happens but these days an IMDB credit is not confirmation of a 3D release.

There are 2 movies that are connected

Then there is the 3rd movie that are stand alone and not connected to the other 2 films

I'm guessing they're going to convert this instead of natively render for each camera view in CGI using a virtual 3D Camera rig. In other words, probably no 3D camera rig was used in the software unlike in the past where every single CGI film was expected to be natively rendered.

If they can convert it with medium 3D at least, on par with the medium 3D native render of Lost Village Smurfs 3D, then at least that's decent to good.

As far as the movie, the Smurfs art style looks good, though more cartoon style for a live-action film.

But didn't we just see this movie with Smurfs 1 Live-action 3D back in 2012 or when it was released? Same story. They are in Smurfs village and warp to a city on Earth to save their village or something similar. Maybe they ran out of writers over there at Sony and as suggested above, are rebooting the first Smurfs live-action film again...

There's a Smurf called 'Influencer' now? FFS. Let's wait for the sequel where it turns out that he's a sexual predator. :/

I've only seen the first Smurfs movie, but found it very enjoyable as a film. The post-converted 3d on it was terrible though.
