Maybe they thought Kino Lorber Studio Classics and Other Newer Stuff MGM Still Has the Rights To But Doesn't Want to Release Themselves would look clunky on all the boxes.

For my money, if MGM owns it and has a decent master ready they can't shovel them over to Kino fast enough.

Exactly.

MGM is sitting on a gold mine when it comes to catalog titles. They just don't have the finances to release a lot of them right now.

Another great MGM property is "Gotham" with Tommy Lee Jones. How about "Needful Things" with Ed Harris?

I could go on and on.

Hmm, interesting. This is a film I'm on the fence about. The first time I saw it (around the time it came out on VHS) I thought it was fantastic. When I saw it again more recently I found it to be a bit hokey at times and paled in comparison to the similar L.A. Confidential. Still, it's not bad and has a decent cast. This was back when Jennifer Connelly was still very curvaceous.

The only question is: how old are some of these masters? I can't imagine this title having been scanned in the last couple of years. The reviews for the first batch of these titles can't come quickly enough for me.

Yeah, I'm pretty eager to see the reviews as well.

I said this in the main Studio Classics thread (or one of the other title threads) but I'd be very happy if these were on par with The Apartment and Manhattan and Rebecca and the like. If they're more along the lines of The Graduate and Midnight Cowboy, well, that would be okay too but I'm hoping for better.

I've sat through this rather disinterestedly a few times when it aired on cable. Jennifer Connelly looks fantastic in it though and features in some nice flashbacks. The opening title sequence is quite nice as well.

I'm not sure why it has to be under any sort of line.. It could just be distributed by Kino, and that's that. It's obviously not a real issue at all, it's just kind of funny when you see the legit titles under the Kino Classics line, and then this title.

Awesome! This is a really underrated movie. It's one of the better neo-noirs out there.
