Very cool! I'm glad I've put off picking up the 88 Films release for so long.

Trying to think if there was anything I felt was “missing” in terms of extras from the 88 Films release. Interviews with the talent behind it, for one.

It’s also fun to fantasize about getting an isolated music score, or a separate vinyl release of it from Arrow. It’s one of the creepiest, most melancholy and effective horror scores I can think of.

This is sure to be a great looking release if they use the same source that we’ve seen on TCM and Shudder, which I assume was the original negative. The image was considerably sharper and more colorful than the whitish 35mm print 88 Films used. TCM and Shudder used censored cuts, unfortunately—not only was the violence drastically trimmed but several bits of dialogue were, too.

So glad to have this to look forward to.

Another sign of a potential Arrow-Warner deal?

I thought Warner Archive would eventually put this out, but Arrow is even better.

To echo everyone here... glad I waited.

I have the 88 disc but a double dip is in the cards. I know Arrow will trump it in every department.

I'm glad that I have the 88 Films disc in my still-unwatched stack here at home. Not! Haha.

Seriously, I'm going to jump aboard the Arrow train when it goes on sale, because I know that they will own it in terms of transfer.

Maybe not. In this podcast interview from 2017 with Alfred Sole, he says that he owns the copyright on the film, but WB has the paperwork, so the lab wouldn't give him the negative.

I listened to that pod when it first came out, and I couldn’t understand the copyright situation then, and I don’t understand it now. Does ‘paperwork’ just mean he licensed it to them? Be interesting to find out how the chain of custody went from Sole to WB to Arrow.

Regarding possible WB involvement - best idea is for someone to ask Warner Archive on Facebook if they have any plans to release this title on Blu (but don't mention knowledge of this Arrow release so as not to muddy the waters). If they no longer have the rights to this title, they usually state as such. But if they something about there being no plans, or that they have no announcements to make at this time, that should mean they still have it, in which case we can get a little more excited.

Of course, I finally broke down and just received the 88 films version a couple of weeks ago.

Does WB even have the negative? Haven't they been stating for years that they've been holding off on releasing this due to them not having decent elements? Or, maybe they have the negative, but it's damaged?

Fantastic news, regardless.

Hopefully they carry over the commentary from the previous releases. They also NEED to track down Pamela Sheppard for an interview!

Paula not Pamela Sheppard and if they could manage that I will definitely double dip for that alone. However, I'm not getting my hopes up there. She didn't participate in the extensive extras for Liquid Sky. Brooke Shields though probably would.

The other thing too, was the British release the complete version or was some footage missing? Extra footage not included in the British release would also make this a must buy.

I'm sure 88 Films release was fully uncut (except for "Holy Terror" title screen).
