Ghost Rider R-Rated Movie Rumored, Norman Reedus As Top Runner

With Disney CEO Bob Iger recently hinting at an R-rated brand of Marvel movies, which would include Deadpool and the recently rumored Blade follow up with Wesley Snipes, it is now rumored that Marvel Studios is developing a rated-R Ghost Rider movie starring Norman Reedus as well.

The rumor has it that early talks about launching an arm made for producing darker Marvel titles is in the works which would see characters like Deadpool, Blade, Ghost Rider, and more making their debut/return to the big screen. Since the Disney/Fox is almost finished, Kevin Feige and the folks at Marvel Studios want to continue producing solo films for Deadpool that will stay in the R-rated realm.

Yesterday, wegotthiscovered.com reported that a new Blade movie is in early development and has an early script that is complete. Wesley Snipes is rumored to return as Blade who will train his daughter, who in the comics would have been a sixteen-year-old girl named Fallon Grey, but the comic was scrapped when the writer quit Marvel and transitioned to DC.

Now as for this new Ghost Rider movie, not much is known about it other than it reboot the Johnny Blaze version of Ghost Rider and Norman Reedus is being eyed for the role. Along with multiple reports, In late 2018, The Walking Dead star expressed interest in playing Ghost Rider saying , “Hell yeah. It would be a blast. Do I get a skull face that’s on fire and all that stuff? **** yeah. I’m down.” There is currently no story details, script or drafts to a new Ghost Rider movie nor any cast/crew attached. This is only a rumor so it could be very well that this film isn't even in the works.

Meh, I kinda think Ghost Rider would work better as part of a larger team than as his own franchise. I know those first two GRs aren't exactly the gold standard, but I'm not that interested in seeing anyone try it again. There are better characters we haven't seen yet.

I like Reedus but i'm not sure i'd buy him as Johnny Blaze tbh. Barely accepted it with Cage.

I think a more lesser known actor could pull of the role. Regarding Blade that role was nailed by Wesley Snipes. The problem is, i'm not sure it was very faithful to the comic origin although entertaining and then you have the issue of continuity of past movies.

I think Norman Reedus would be a better choice than Nicholas Cage for this role. Whoever they go with I'm just glad it would be "R" rated to give it more of a horror feel. This and the new Blade movie would be a couple of comic book movies I would be interested in.

We already got a great Ghost Rider in SHIELD. I would prefer other characters get their shot.

I'd love for Sean Bean to be Johnny Blaze's dad. It'd fit in with his classic "Sean Bean always dies" schtick, since you know he ain't gonna last long.

That was TV-14 Robbie though, I'd much rather see R-rated Johnny. He's an entirely different character, and AOS only ever showed him powered up for like a minute at a time.

Sean Bean has a similar look, IMO. In fact when I first watched Ghost Rider I actually thought his dad was Sean Bean, but alas I was wrong.

To be fair, I’ll take a good R-rated Ghost Rider flick in any capacity, even if it’s Nic Cage-Less.

Reedus works as Daryl on TWD, but I think he would be pretty bland and boring for Ghost Rider. Not a good fit at all.

I doubt he is "rumored" so much as it's just fans saying, "hey, he rides a motorcycle! cast him!"

For everyone here: Who is your dream Johnny/Ghost Rider casting, if not Reedus?

I personally wouldn't mind some Scott Eastwood.

That’s for tv. This is a movie leave the tv actors on the show they need someone with a name to get people to go see it.
