Default The Man Who Fell To Earth on Showtime

Premieres on April 24.

The Roeg movie with David Bowie will be a hard act to follow, but perhaps this adaptation will be closer to the novel.

After I read the novel (after seeing the movie) back in 76....I was convinced that much more of this story could be told.
Glad to see that someone else thought so too.

I just watched the original movie in the last 6 months and was really impressed. I don't see how they're going to capture the same "feel" of the Bowie version, but the idea is good enough where it doesn't have to be the same.

I am looking forward to it.

Anyone else watch this today? I really enjoyed it! I’ve liked Naomie Harris since I first saw her in 28 Days Later almost 20 years ago and she delivered a great performance here. I also like the alienness of Chiwetel Ejiofor as Faraday. Looking forward to seeing where this goes!

Nothing will ever have the same feel as the original movie....but it doesn't have to.
When I read the book in 78', I knew that this story could easily be continued. Glad to see it finally has.

A good second episode today! Nice to see
[Show spoiler]more interaction between Faraday and Newton, plus the continued development of the relationship between Faraday and Justin.

Damn....am I impressed. Little nods..."wake up, you sleepy head"...X Ray machines...one of the techs who fused TJN's contacts permanently, still alive and hiding out.

TJN just answered my question at the beginning of this episode....Faraday not only fell to Earth, he was rushed to Earth...no prep to speak of...and was loyal to TJN to begin with.
Just hope they can keep up this level of excellence...looks like they can.

The action and story continue to build nicely in today's episode. I find myself really enjoying the pacing of this series, with each episode not only adding more information (which should be a given in any TV show, but doesn't always seem to happen), but the action also ramping up (so, we aren't trading off information and character development for on-screen action and interest).

First 3 episodes were fantastic. I’m surprised this hasn’t got more buzz around it.

Out of all planets, the alien ended up on Earth? Kind of unfortunate for him.

I've not seen the original movie, to be honest, but the plot doesn't sound interesting to me and I tend to like stuff with "aliens."

Haven't seen the movie, is this a continuation so I need to see that first? or is the show basically a reboot from the start?

It's a continuation....it expands on the basic plot of the movie/book.
The basic plot is....

An alien comes to Earth to save his world, bringing tech designs with him to infiltrate our big business to make money to finance his own space/tech company for said saviour mission and is subverted by the US government.

He falls into despair and just gives up....or so we thought.
New series kicks in...
He sends for another from his world to come also and pick up where he was thwarted.
This is where the series begins with the arrival of another Anthean (the aliens).

I read the book and saw the movie countless times (huge Bowie fan) and am thrilled to death about all this....the series is quite good so far.

The movie might not be what you expect from a sci-fi story....it's more of a statement on the human condition...but, it's a beautiful film. And in this day and age, you cant help but think "Elon Musk". By all means, the movie should be seen.

I'm watching the stream of Episode 9...."early" (since it's released on the app before it airs) and the sync is broken about 1/2 way through. Seems around 45-60 seconds difference between audio / visual.

The show has been amazing all along. Even with the sync issue, I'm still focused on it.

I definitely enjoyed it, though I must confess that it lost some steam in the last few episodes for me. I don't think it's gotten an order for a second season yet, but I assume it will. Definitely still plenty of story to tell!
